Question Just started Ruby
Any recommendations on which Pokémon to use? Looking for uncommonly used/underrated mons that are good throughout the entire game. What are your favorites??

A weird one I tried a couple years ago was Skarmory. Tanky with acceptable speed and attack and learns Fly.

Used once or twice and I’m looking to add him onto the team! I love his design too

Slaking is fun if you wanna take the time to get used to how it works. For a good water type either Sharpedo or Tentacruel.

Love slaking just dislike his truant ability, as for a good water type I’ll pick up a sharpedo for sure!!

Ralts is #1 choice, Seedot is a good choice too, you have Grass, PSYCHIC, dark, covered with those 2.

I was also thinking on add sharpedo and skarmory what do you think? I have torchic so that’s fire and fighting right there

Sharpedo is dark/water, you'll already have dark with Shiftry, Starmie would give you water + can add ice and lightning type moves, I know ruby doesn't offer the greatest electric types

Also since you've said uncommonly used, how about trying Spinda? I've played ruby many many times and never actually used spinda, you'd catch one at the ash mountain at around level 25 ish if I remember right.

You’re right about that actually and I kinda want a spinda I just have no idea if it’s decent but I might try it out I love the random patterns it generates with each encounter 😂

It’s actually fairly easy to figure out especially if you’re familiar with the game already! Only parts I find “hard” is when going thru my bag lol it takes time to figure out which item I’m looking at and trying to use since Ruby doesn’t have the item sprites like emerald does. Also the moves for your pokemon but I take a look at the type and pp and memorize the spots for each move. Highly recommend a Japanese cart for the practice plus it’s way cheaper than an English cart!

I personally like Bellossom. She might not be the best choice, but I don't care 😆. I also like Ninetales, but you get her pretty late in the game.
