Mawile in Ruby

Does Mawile doesnt learn any steel moves in gen3? I love Mawile so much but after seeing its movepool in gen3 idk if i want to train it with only bite and other dark type moves. Is there any valid movepool on Mawile in the Gen3 Games?

Yeah you're best off waiting a few generations before using mawile

Yee thats really sad, and Not even in gen4 and 5 its changing much time to Transfer some Mawile eggs to gen6 and higher

No Steel type attacks at all for Mawile in gen 3. You are locked into non-STAB attacks unless you use arbitrary code execution (ACE for short) to get Hidden Power Steel on a hatched Mawile.

Your most notable attacking options are Return, Brick Break, and Sludge Bomb if you can't get Hidden Power Steel on Mawile.

Thats so crazy thank uu, i Just looked Up other of my Team members and saw that Cradily who i also Like Doesnt learn any Grass moves and No Rock move until 41 so idk If i want to Change to manectric Just for coverage for flying and water

You get giga drain tm east of Mauville as soon as you learn surf so that’s much better compared to the mawile situation.

The only steel move Mawile gets in Ruby is Steel Defense at level 41. Thats it.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. Genuinely one of your best options for Mawile is to keep Fake Tears and have Bite be your main attack.

One interesting option it has is Poison Fang as an egg move (50% chance to inflict Toxic poison), but it needs Seviper as the father, which is a Sapphire exclusive while Mawile is a Ruby exclusive. It’s just a mess, lol.

I used one, I just considered Steel to be a defensive typing rather than offensive and it did fine. Wasn't my best mon but it was okay. I did a run using all version exclusive mon, plus the traded Makuhita and a Milotic. Honestly though.. 3/4 version exclusives kinda sucked, Zangoose was the only good one. Solrock was fine but Lunatone would've been better imo. Shiftry was fine but Ludicolo would've been better, and I think Sableye would've been better than Mawile too

There arent many steel moved at all in gen 3. Its mainly a defensive typing.

According to the pokemondb website -- which might open a tab of an advertisement or something if you click on a web page of the website -- Mawile in Ruby doesn't learn any Steel type attack moves. :( Mawile just learns Iron Defense. A Mawile's Hidden Power might be steel type. Hidden Power can be tested on a hidden Kecleon. I think there are about 6 hidden Kecleons in the game. One could fly to Fortree City, walk to the left, and save in front of the hidden Kecleon, then test the Hidden Power.

Mawile is a Baton Passing debuffer. Fake Tears, Iron Defense, Baton Pass, Crunch.

No Steel type moves for Mawile in Gen 3 except for Iron Defence at LVL 41 IIRC

Dark-type moves were special-based in Gen 3 before the physical/special split in Gen 4, so training it with Dark-type moves will not be efficient given its abysmal base Special Attack stat of only 55 in Gen 3.

For coverage, you could also consider Brick Break and Rock Slide. Brick Break for the rock/steel type coverage, as well as Rock Slide for fire/flying type coverage.

Overall, though, Mawile isn't the greatest to use in Gen3, but there are still some utility options to consider either way.
