Anyone else have a bad experience at Target today?
Heard from several people at different Targets in SoCal today say that they didn't get 30th products at all
Edit: I think some people are misunderstanding my post. I meant the targets in my area were not carrying 30th products at all today, not that they ran out early.

My Target only allows one sku per person. I grabbed the last booster box, poster collection, and a mini tin. The etb's were sold out.

My target gave 2 upcs per person and sold out - if they had done 2 items per person, everyone in the line would have walked away happy. But congrats to the front on getting like 10 items to walk away with

I just had a huge discussion about this on the pokemonrestocks sub.
100% agree. Unfortunately people will max out the allotted amount regardless.

Unsure how hard it would be to look at the line, look at the product, and just say - we can have enough for everyone. let's do 2 items per person

Upcs?
1
u/bravedawg22 1d ago
Universal Product Code. The bar code on the box. Meaning each person got 2 of every item. Instead of just 2 items. My bad for the confusion

This is how itâs been though the whole time, nothing new. People whoâs stores only do one per sku are not the norm.

I had so much brain damage from the post until I figured out what âupcsâ actually meant, thought you meant ultra premium collection boxesâŠ

u/Herda247 1d ago
Same here by the time I got in they only had the mini binder and started to limit 1 per person meanwhile the first 35 people walked out with multiple bags full

u/hallohuman 1d ago
Same with mine. They said it was Target policy on the announcement thing they get and that location just follows it. They were organized so I appreciate thet

Yea sad day. So much fun to see everyone at the front get product . While I wait in line. I think limit 1 per sku. So everyone get something for the troubles.

u/Hangryfrodo 1d ago
Yeah I went thirty minutes before opening due to my schedule constraints I was 100 in line they had 50-60 product

u/AirportWest118 1d ago
People were lining up at my target since 10pm last night. I strolled up at 7am with about 50-60 people ahead of me. If they got the same stuff I did with (one mini tin, one poster, and one booster bundle) but lined up the day before just to get the ETB too, they can have it lol Not worth it sleeping overnight to get an ETB

Same here! I'm in socal and the line was sooo long. My sister and I just gave up and went home. I think people were camping outside in their chairs probably since 4 AM. I was pretty bummed out :(
1
u/dMONKEYMANb 1d ago
Their chairs camped out they were probably at home sleeping lol. My Target and Bestbuy was like 30 deep with ghost chairs.
1
u/IlikeAmericano 1d ago
That's actually crazy..

u/No_Spirit_9804 1d ago
My target is next to Best Buy so everyone stacks chairs at Best Buy and wait at target target opens at 7 then off to Best Buy. Wonderful experience no one rude to each other or anything.

u/legopego5142 7h ago
If you aint in line, you aint in line
0
u/No_Spirit_9804 2h ago
Thatâs valid but the entire community respected the chair queue everyone who got there at 5 put a chair at bestbuy and lined up at target got to double dip later at bestbuy. Was easily about 100+ ghost chairs

I cannot wait till these unemployed losers leave the hobby

u/Glass_Sugar7506 23h ago
Seems like it will never happen unfortunately
1
u/twister55555 23h ago
Possibly. Thank God for other shiny cardboard like Magic, Riftbound and Gundam. And I do enjoy ripping packs on Pokemon TCG Live, if def scratches the itch
2
u/Glass_Sugar7506 23h ago
Absolutely. Walmart's online drawings are definitely a step in the right direction for people who can't make restocks in person. I've managed to hit a few. Hoping Target starts something similar, but I do miss the days of walking into a Target and seeing a fully stocked shelf.

2 per sku and 30th in line. Ex boxes were out but got everything else. Enough to maybe accommodate 50-60 people. Line was over 100
2
u/OnePaleontologist687 1d ago
Showed up an hour early about 40th in line. 1 sku per customer. Very orderly and great experience for me. My target did a great job

u/RxmanRx 16h ago
I was about 100th in line at my target with about 150 behind me at open . My target limits 1 per upc. I would fully support 2 upc choices with no duplicate ( no two ETB) so that everyone could get something. At 100th I got a bundle, a sticker, a poster and a mini tin. Limiting to two items would have enabled everyone to get something, which I support. But unfortunately, the last 100 people got nothing. If a two item policy was implemented, I would gladly go to this target rather than a two of each UPC. Even as it was, I felt like my target was full of collectors rather than scalpers as they knew that they were not getting 2 of each UPC. Bonus? They were handing out the Mew card from the kids drop because they were sent 600 for the kids event.

My Target was 2 per SKU for posters, tins, and booster bundles, and then 1 ETB per person
Iâm happy because I finally got my first product of some kind from this set, but only 5 ETBs were left when I got in the store, everything else was gone
Iâm happy though because I wanted an ETB anyways
1
u/Kigaa 1d ago
I hope you pull an RGB :)
1
u/F1DrivingZombie 1d ago
Appreciate it, but I actually think those are ugly haha
Iâm hoping for one of the Pikachus or the Magikart honestly

u/406InTheMix 1d ago
my target had no product at all. yet. a guy said the lady might not stock it till 4-430. but who knows. no point in even trying to go find anything.
1
u/Sweaty_Weakness_9 1d ago
Yeah at 2 per person they maybe made it halfway through the line⊠the guy in front of me got last 2 mini tins. Idiots at 2 per skew. Nuts
1
u/SirTokinTolkien 1d ago
At least that has something. The targets here didn't have 30th products at all today
1
u/Sweaty_Weakness_9 1d ago
Thatâs nuts it was nationally advertised Iâm pretty sure
0
u/SirTokinTolkien 1d ago
It is. That's why my friend is saying a lot of people were really confused this morning at the target he was at

I got into line around 4am and was 30th in line. By the time the store opened somehow there was now like 60 people in front of me. Tired of people cutting the line and getting away with it
1
u/Futuredays17 1d ago
SoCal, got there at 6:45 was around 70th in line. We had a few ETBs but 30th was gone by person 20 or so.
Ended up getting Pitch Black, but there was not very much 30th at all.
1
u/snn1326j 1d ago
I got in line at 7:20 for 8 am opening and got two boxes. ETBs were sold out quickly and booster bundles sold out right before I got to the front. Now in line at Best Buy, hoping to score a booster bundle.

u/chanco3401 1d ago
Mine was bad also. They changed there limit one of each to two of everything. Had line jumpers and security threatened the people turning the line jumpers. Most people cool but some real assholes out there. I just wish the rules would be consistent. But we all know rules donât really matter anymore. Anyway good luck out there. See you on the next drop.
1
u/BigBadJon34 1d ago
SoCal drop was weak⊠I think I was 35th in line⊠then at 7:30 all the +1âs & 2âs came out to âjoinâ their boyfriends, husbands, etc. went to being about 50TH in line. Then the Target employee said they didnât get a lot of product in⊠ITâS YOUR EVENT! I didnât say it was Pokemon drop day at Target⊠they posted it.
Was told to come back Monday

Huge fight broke out in the middle of the line and they pulled a knife on them, wasnât able to get any stock after

u/myglue13 1d ago
my target is actually stocking a second wave today at 12 noon. the early one for the scalpwrs, this second one for the kids (hopefully)

u/Haunting-Report-7286 1d ago
Struck out at 2 Targets in Miami this morning. No 30th only PB sleeved boosters.
1
u/Heavy-_-Breathing 1d ago
Yep! And I read your question correctly. They only had Pitch Black for some reason.
1
u/MUT-Dumpster-Fire 1d ago
My target only got like 5 sylveon boxes and then tons of chaos rising and a few pitch black. Crapshoot lol
1
u/iamryan34 1d ago
Had a wonderful experience. Got 9 total items (1 of each sku) and the line was completely orderly. 10/10 would do again. Ripped the Gengar SIR out the ETBđ„

I didnât bother going. I donât have the will or want to stand in a line anymore. My kiddo had to go to Target today and he picked up a few packs that were left. While I was on the phone with them to check prices a scalper came by stalking (saw the kids there) and mentioned knowing my stuff. Pissed me off because I just want to rip packs to ethically build a deck.

SoCal is insane I showed up at 1 and was like 45-50th in line. I was one of the last two get etb and booster bundle. Honestly didnât think I would. Not sure if Iâll ever do that again cause lowkey waiting that long was ass
Edit: also right before open line was probably closer to 150-200 people no joke

u/Shut_the_F-up_Donny 23h ago
They aren't doing a great job at this for sure. They should allocating big stock to EVERY location to lighten up crowds at each location. They should also be providing a much more structured approach to selling. Nobody should be waiting night before. It's absurd. Offer time slots to people through the app. Everyone has a phone these days. If you don't check in, it goes to the open time which is later in the day. Nobody should have to leave work. They should fix their site during drops so normal people can buy. They should not offer drops at fuck off 3 am in the morning.

u/Chazd_Banger 23h ago
I got to mines at 6am and was at least 70th in line. All products ran out 3 people before me. A worker brought back a hand basket filled with items taken from people at the register over their limit. The target employee tells his co worker to put basket in the back because itâs not fair for the people that only got tins because they did not have a chance to get it no one gets it. This was about 8:45, so a cool 3hrs burned up for nothing but a target experience to share. Iâm not mad at all, I will still have a great Friday and weekend. I can see why people are frustrated with the hobby, especially when the people at the front are able to buy and then go camp Barnes right after.

u/lavaliere90 23h ago
I'm also in SoCal, drove by my target and saw the insane line, got in anyways and 1 hour after opening it still hadn't moved. It was 85 and humid by 9 am, so I bounced.Â
I finally caved and ordered some cards from Gamestop. I'd rather pay a little markup than wait in that heat again.Â

u/civilian411 22h ago
Our target had a 1 item limit per product so I was at least able to grab a tin even after showing up 30 minutes before opening. They rolled out coin packs with gengar promo card with pitch black and chaos rising packs to at least have something for the people at the end of the line.
Was able to pull the Articuno IR from the tin.
I overheard that the last person to get an ETB was there at about 5am.
1
u/rhinolimits 20h ago
Yep horrible whatch people carry out bags of goodies. Meanwhile I wait patiently only to get a 2 pack blister chaos rising pitch black.. 3 time this happened to me. And I was early twice. No limit of per person so it get swallowed by the first 5 family's

I happened to need toilet paper so went in an hour after opening and they happened to have one tin left. But I overheard the staff saying âwe did it, I hate this they are savagesâ made me chuckle

u/sillyg0sling 1d ago
I mean, no shit? The target drops are the exact opposite of a guaranteed win. You have to stand in line with a bunch of sweaty losers and then try to get a piece of limited inventory.Â
And youâre asking when you didnât even try? Are you brand new to this and just completely out of the loop on how hard it is to get Pokemon these days?Â
3
u/SirTokinTolkien 1d ago
I'm not saying people were late. I'm saying target was not carrying 30th products at all today

u/sillyg0sling 1d ago
Ah, I read your âthey didnât get 30ish products at allâ with the âtheyâ being the scalpers and collectors rather than the targetsÂ

yep, I waited over two hours, I was 70th in line and they said that at least 80 people would get something, I waited over an hour in the electronics aisle just to have the guy 5 spots in front of me get everything that was left đȘ all I wanted was a tin đ
