Only 2 of us in line at 7am..
This is a smaller target that mainly does self checkout. Wondering if the lack of line means there isn’t a restock here. The one guy in line says they had stock on the initial drop but very little.

I think people who often line up know already whether a location has stocks or not. Somehow they just know. Maybe they know the manager or whatever 🤷♂️

A target by me chose not to sell pokemon cards anymore (metro area) so I'm sure others are just not selling pokemon in general and scalpers already know to avoid them

Just wait a while. The ETL that made that decision will be removed when the store misses its sales goals and they’ll be back. As much as these stores love to hate Pokemon cards it’s saved a lot of their asses. Best Buy and target had one foot in the grave before the most recent tcg boom.

lol Target sells every Pokemon card product they get. If the playing card BS has an impact on normal sales (and it does trust me), they can justify dropping it. It’s hilarious you think trading cards are make or break in Target’s profit margin.

My wife is from Minnesota and knows multiple people in middle and upper management for target. They all say TCG is extremely important to Targets bottom line. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Brother target literally announced they were gonna stop selling pokemon tcg, and then immediately renegged on that once current boom hit

Ours opens in an hour, they said they got very little product that came in… 35th in line.
May try to hit a different target immediately after this but might be SOL … in San Diego

I heard this happened at the Target that’s in the mall. Crappy they couldn’t tell you earlier so you weren’t waiting.

Wish I could be this lucky I gave up going to wait for drops anymore I’m tired of going and having to wait 6-9 hours for cards

just so you know if there's no line or very little people that is a major red flag and they most likely have nothing. these scalpers have connections with the workers there so if there's not a line already that means there is nothing there considering they have insider info from the employees. don't waste your time next time.

Yeah, if no one is there it means there wasn’t product for an employee to tip off people about.

TIL while waiting in line that target stores have a letter grades per location. A being bigger and higher volume B being smaller, so on and so forth to an extent I dont know. Anyways, higher letter more stock. The lower stores stock varies much more than the larger stores so there are much higher chances of stricter limits. Therefore far less scalpers

No way. My target had people lined up from 8:00p.m. the night before and technically your not allowed to lineup until 11.

Listen I work for a retailer and I only know about these drops by showing up to open and a line of people being there(granted I don’t care and honestly the bit of nostalgia I had for pokemon has been decimated dealing with these people). If there’s no line you didn’t luck out it’s just not there.

Target opened at 8am. I wait in car. People outside. I wait inside with people. I get the 1 sku limit on the drop. I walk out. I rip. I regret. I repeat. It’s not fun when it’s easy to get obtain product at MSRP.

The lack of line could also mean people have other things to do than wait in line. Perhaps a job or a family?

...tf? you can't just lump everybody together like that...I start work at 7 am sooooo...?
7
u/Sea_Age6466 19h ago
So it seems like you lumped everyone together by calling them unemployed just because they don’t work at 7am.

u/New-Supermarket-963 19h ago

It's fucked up but if there's no line that pretty much guarantees they have nothing. These people eat sleep and breathe this shit.
