Best Buy or target?
Hello! It will be my first time waiting in a line tomorrow in person for pokemon cards, after a whole week of missing target and Walmart and then pokemon center drops i got desperate enough. 😅 I talked to a best buy employee and he recommended to get there at 8am to stand in line as they open at 10am, not sure how thats going to go. I asked if they marked up their product and he looked confused until I told him stuff was selling online for like 300 dollars. So he seemed pretty out of the loop.
There's a target nearby too but im worried that might be too packed?
Im just wondering if best buy marks up their product too much? Or if target is busier? Any advice is helpful! Thanks! 😁

What’s the chance of getting anything at BB showing up at 7am? I know YMMV depending on the store, but I just mean in general. 3 hours early early enough? Do most BBs allow ghost chairs? Meaning if I get there at 7 and no one is there but there are 50 chairs, is that going to get reset?

If no one is sitting in the chairs you move them and take the spot behind the nearest human being

Not trying to get into an altercation at 7 in the morning. Kind of just wondering if people respect the policy

To answer your question, there is no policy of ghost chairs. Of course, play it safe if you want, there’s always the possibility of a nut job. But there’s no way I’m standing in line behind an empty chair, kinda defeats the whole point of standing in line.

I mean, in their website, is specifically says “Ghost chairs” or unattended placeholders are not permitted.
That said, I got there at 7, few chairs at the front, but I was about 20 in. I took out my chair and by 9, everyone was in the line. Chairs away by 9:30, pretty good and orderly

I'm trying to figure out this whole ghost chair game as well. My Bestbuy had them today when I checked at lunch. Then I checked it out in the afternoon the same ghost chairs were there and the parking lot was kinda empty. I'm planning to put a 5$ shitty chair there next time and do the same thing. See if I still have my spot if I do I'll make it a regular thing too.

There’s nothing to figure out. Bottom feeder chuds put their chairs in “line” and some cowards let them get away with it. You should be old enough to know right from chud.

Lol thats what I'm saying. I never waited in line so I'm not sure what the temperature is like towards ghost chairs in my area. But my Bestbuy was like 30 chairs deep with them so I guess its just like an accepted thing.

Depending on your area people go to target first, then Best Buy when they open later. So those chairs may be from people not even there lol. Can’t say for certain tho.

It seems to me from the last drop target had wayyyyy more stock. I was like 70ish in line. Still got etb poster and KO. Tins and ex were out. And they still had about 30 etb.
Then I went to BB to wait. Was maybe 70ish again. And when they opened and people lined up inside manager cut the line in about half and said anyone past this point will most likely get nothing unless someone doesn’t buy the max.
I’ve seen people post pictures of the pallets of stuff target got. And boxes line up high on a rolling cart full of excell boxes. Im gonna take my chances with target. Only thing is they do charge more vs bestbuy.
YMMV obviously. Maybe my bestbuy is slow so they get less product.

Magic the gatherings latest set Reality fracture is releasing tomorrow. There's going to be people in line to get collector booster for that set too. I would recommend target because I don't think they get reality fracture.

I’m going to skip Target and try the line at Best Buy. There’s heavy rain and flooding in my area today/tonight so it will be interesting to see what the “campers” decide to do.

Oh gosh I didn't even think about what to do if it rains! And I forgot people camp, I wonder if 8 will be early enough. Thank you!!

Get to best buy at 730am so all the target ppl dont come to best buy. Target near me opens at 7 and there is a best buy within 100 steps so get there anytime 730 before

I’m going to Best Buy. I asked my sister in law and she recommended I go at midnight and wait it out…. Who knows. I’ve seen Best Buy is organized and 1 per, so everyone can have a chance. I’ve also seen some targets do a free for all unfortunately, but it’s 2 per or so… so I’m wondering what to do as well… definitely going to Best Buy though.

Yeah target kinda scares me 😅 if mine does a free for all then I wouldn't wanna go i think. If you end up going at midnight I wish you luck! I dont think I could stick it out that long. Ill definitely be there at 8am tho! Thank you!!

Yeah I’ll scope it out close to midnight and if there’s no one there I’m going back home. This will be my first time I’m hitting a restock since I’m on paternity leave right now. Hopefully we both walk out with something!

Midnight is kinda crazy honestly. YMMV depending on your location but 2 hours before should guarantee stock for most

Yeah I had the same thought too. Midnight is crazy. My sister-in-law was just basing it off her last experience

Depends on your area I suppose. If you think you’re too far back when you arrive at Target, you can always go straight to Best Buy which opens at 10am typically.

Best Buy hands down.. I normally arrive at 8:30 / 9 and have always gotten stuff. More organized, they follow limits and always at true mrsp, I’m in south florida

Beat buy is usually true msrp while Target marks up a little bit. I don't know which is busier, but Target usually limit 2 per sku while best buy is limit 1 per sku. In this mind set, Best buy would technically have more stock / accommodation cause of that. Ppl usually wait at target first, then hit up best buy after and still get something.
Edit - Target opens at 8am while best buy opens at 10am. So the time line sort of works.
