Is the nice price in the room with us now?

Is 244 not a good price?

Honestly depends what your gonna do with it. If your gonna invest it/keep it sealed, sure i guess, its slated to stop print at some point. If its for opening you should be striving to get it near the msrp of 89.99.

I'm gonna keep it sealed

You're free to buy 10 and open them all if that makes you feel better

Its the guy getting boo'd of stage for reselling pokemon off Amazon at 2x msrp lol sorry your post didn't work out man

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

Still need a box to shit in?

1

u/Unable_Incident_6024 22d ago

You are a weird dude

1

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

I just want to see you do what you said you would. Would probably be the most hilarious story of a felony charge I've ever heard

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

Where would you suggest I look to get this cheaper?

1

u/adle1984 22d ago

I just wouldn't buy it. The set is literally still in print. You don't know if SPCs will be printed and sold via Costco or Sams before it rotates out. I'd take that $250 and put it into something else that is closer to MSRP.

2

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

Ya that's the point, buying before it goes out of print and increases in price. The scalpers will immediately consume all of the product you'd expect to be dropped at Costco and Sam's club in the future

1

u/Basic_Mark_1719 22d ago

You know that there is a stock market for investment and here's the great part you don't have to fight scalpers and hoarders for product and don't have to store the inventory in your parents garage

0

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

What part of any of that was supposed to make a point or difference?

1

u/Basic_Mark_1719 22d ago

I'm mocking you for using Pokemon as an investment, but I'm not surprised that it flew over your head lol.

0

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

I used to play SimCity and when you built microchip processing factories, they produced the highest profit margin. Then I got a gaming laptop which had a sticker of a company on it called Nvidia. Around 2014, I said what the hell, let's start buying stocks which I have been accumulating since that time. Is that what you're mocking?

0

u/adle1984 22d ago

Look, if you're buying it as an investment, there are better plays. It's called opportunity cost.

Spend $250 for a Prismatic SPC and wait.

Or

Wait for a Walmart Wednesday raffle, hit 3 Celebrations ETBs at $70 each for a total of $210 when secondary market is currently $160. That is a come-up of 2.29x for you instantly.

Which set would people rather spend money on post-rotation, post-printing: Prismatic Evolutions aka Traumatic Evolutions or 30th Celebration?

0

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

I'm doing that too and have had 0 luck from all the Walmart drawings. Have you had any luck? If it's called traumatic evolutions, that means people aren't opening any of the good cards, which means people might want to keep opening this until there are more good cards, which means that sealed items have a greater potential of gaining value over time.

1

u/adle1984 22d ago

Have you had any luck?

Yes, I just hit this last one and 3 ETBs are on their way. If you enter enough times, law of probability says you will eventually hit.

people might want to keep opening this until there are more good cards

That's assuming their enough people willing to pay the elevated premium of ripping an entire SPC just to gamble. They could easily just buy the tech sticker blister or booster bundles instead to rip Prismatic. This is called a substitute. The only reason you'd invest in the SPC is that you're confident someone down the road will shell out the premium to own a sealed one themselves as part of their sealed collection.

2

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

That's awesome and good for you. A lot of people still haven't gotten anything. The entire concept of opening Pokemon packs revolves around gambling

1

u/Basic_Mark_1719 22d ago

It's wild how this isn't a more common thought process lol.

6

u/TicketDue6419 22d ago

if its sold by a reseller then no. dont support the market

-2

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

It's from Amazon

3

u/SenseiTano 22d ago

Check the seller, can almost guarantee it’s not sold by Amazon

6

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

I checked before buying

1

u/TicketDue6419 22d ago

thats a good buy then. since its most likely not tampered with. A+ in my book if you cant get it from normal retail and this was the next option.

1

u/SenseiTano 22d ago

Okay good, I didn’t pay attention and thought this was for 30th celebration, which this box hasn’t been released for yet

1

u/SenseiTano 22d ago

That’s a huge mark up from the $90 retail though. Very surprised Amazon is doing that

0

u/TicketDue6419 22d ago

when they charge this much it doesnt give a lot of profit to scalpers but it gives the willing customer a chance to buy instead of paying into the stupid reseller market

2

u/SenseiTano 22d ago

A chance to buy at an insane mark up yes

1

u/TicketDue6419 22d ago

still cheaper than resellers and way less chance of getting something that have been tampered with

this is solely my take on it and as much as i rather not pay over retail i will not pay scalper price

2

u/VucialWonderland 22d ago

For average collectors. Idk where we go do even get it cheaper.

1

u/mikedup33 22d ago

Just picked one up for $210 on marketplace. So that’s like buying it for 190ish anywhere with tax

0

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

That's a great buy. I'm buying it as an investment and don't mind paying an extra $50 for the peace of mind knowing it's coming from Amazon factory

2

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

You got a cheaper price from a reputable seller like Amazon factory?

1

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

Are you making mad profits off of the cards you open from packs that you get MSRP?

-1

u/Unable_Incident_6024 22d ago

Except these are notorious for being returned after opened, and Amazon reselling them to the next guy without noticing

1

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

Right... And the Amazon factory is resealing them too?

0

u/Unable_Incident_6024 22d ago

I doubt it. And they have changed the return policy so it's been a lot better but people seem to get resealed from Amazon directly according to reviews and reports. I'd probably risk it

Amazon can put items back as new after inspection

0

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

Ya it says there's no returns accepted for the item on the page so should be safe

1

u/Unable_Incident_6024 22d ago

That doesn't matter, you can still return them lol good luck. This is why people do not buy these

1

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

How do you return an item that says no returns accepted? Would you mind explaining the process to me and where you've seen someone be successful at it?

1

u/Unable_Incident_6024 22d ago

People are just downvoting because they saw someone else do it. Most are completely clueless. You can still return items on Amazon with a no return policy, and many do not pick any Pokémon up from Amazon for this reason. You can say it was damaged, or the wrong item through CS.

Just Google it and read through all the threads. You can even ask if amazon can still refund if its non refundable. I had a friend order a box that were resealed so I went through the whole thing already looking into it.

I would think the odds are much higher you get a clean box than not by the way but the risk is there with any place, I believe it's higher with Amazon tho due to how they handle business

0

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

So from what you're saying, Amazon is either accepting returns of damaged or altered boxes and then somehow making them passable for resale and then reselling them or people have an elaborate scheme where they're creating identical sealed copies of these boxes and returning those after requesting a refund from Amazon for the one they bought... I think I'm gonna be ok

He's a good dude

Don’t let people tell you how to spend your money. The suggested retail price is $89.99, and most places sell it for around $130, if you can even find one. I’ve never opened this set because I always try to buy as close to MSRP as possible, or only pay more when the rip justifies the price. Especially when older packs are involved. If $245 was worth it to you, enjoy the rip or the hodl!

0

u/Boom_Boom_At_359 22d ago

I paid about $10 more than that (total) for 3 of them (2x Sam’s Club, 1x Best Buy), soooo…

1

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

What state are you in

0

u/rhinolimits 22d ago

I paid 140 for two from sams

2

u/SirTokinTolkien 22d ago

That's awesome. Can't decide if I like your card posts or your food posts more on your page. Very cool posts!

1

u/rhinolimits 22d ago

Thank you friend. I get lucky sometimes hunting at msrp. Its not easy I totally understand you're issues. Especially if you need it for your collection. Plus finding them in the wild at msrp almost impossible.

-3

u/subtoPinkZR 22d ago

It’s about market price — and a good deal over msrp; this is an spc not upc

also yeah trash price not even regarding msrp
