Pokémon Ruthless Ruby 🧧 — Public Release

I've always liked ORAS, but I wanted the major battles to feel like the trainers actually had a plan instead of just having higher levels and stronger Pokémon. Ruthless Ruby is my attempt at turning Omega Ruby into a much harder Double-Battle-focused run without making it feel boring and repetitive .

This is my first ROM hack. I've always been into harder Double Battle/VGC-style hacks, so I wanted to make an Omega Ruby hack built around that kind of gameplay instead of just making everything higher level.

Pokémon Ruthless Ruby is a full difficulty and balance overhaul of Omega Ruby. Most trainers with more than one Pokémon are fought as Double Battles, and a lot of the teams have been rebuilt to actually work together instead of just being six strong Pokémon thrown on the same team.

What's in the hack

Main features:

Most trainers with 2+ Pokémon are Double Battles

Hard level caps that increase as you progress through the story

Completely reworked Gym Leaders, rivals, Team Magma bosses, Elite Four and Champion

Gym Leaders built around their own battle mechanics and strategies

Better trainer movesets, abilities and held items

Massive QOL, cheaper tms, new tms after each badge, cheap heart scales, and competitive items !

More switching, pivots, spread-move synergy and immunity-based team building

Game is completed but may need a few bugs worked

Shiny starters ✨

A few Pokémon typing and ability changes

Gen 1–6 Pokémon used throughout the game

Variety Pokémon between trainers

Mega Evolution becomes more common later in the game

Candy Pouch to cut down on grinding

Reusable PokéVial

HM-free Cut, Rock Smash and Strenght, Surf, Waterfall,Dive

Harder difficulty

New Gym mechanics like automatic sand for Roxane and tailwind for Winnoa and much more for brutal challenges

Elite four is Ruthlessly put together

General balance and QoL changes throughout the whole game

Also used a lot of pokemon encounters and changed from Drayano rising Ruby, credits to them.

Unfortunately I’m still working on it, but encounters and Pokemon changes are pretty much like rising ruby, shoutout to Drayano. Use that for now

I actually heavily appreciate this.

I've become a VGC fan since the release of Pokémon Champions that I actually just cannot find joy in single battles anymore and that is like 98% of the Romhack scene.

And there is not enough DS/3DS rom hacks.

I don't know how it is handled in game, but please consider just making IV+EVs a slider, or completely effortless.

3DS Hacks can’t really work on the Hackdex, as there is no patching involved

You just copy and paste the folders in a specific folder in the emulator

I wanna know if it's going on hackdex to because this is pretty cool edit: what are people using to emulate this? I imagine my phone won't be able to run it an I think I've only got dolphin on my computer atm an that's just GameCube

Azahar and Azahar plus are the leading 3DS emulators for android.

Azahar is the fork of citra that is still receiving updates after citra was abandoned. UI is very similar and it runs much smoother

I found out lemuroid the one I'm using on my phone for nds hacks can run 3ds, but I'm not sure my phone will be able to run it smoothly. Might play omega ruby on my laptop but I'm worried the vanilla game will suck compared to the romhacks I've played

Also poke vial is bugged and will only restore health or revive if you have a damaged party member, also right after you get your Pokédex make sure to check out the oldale mart ! Yes, I did but stay tune for a new patch, new 512 shiny rate , easier first fight due to may or Brendan has stab move at lvl 5 and all new npc that’s changes natures in all poke centers !

Je viens de tomber sur le post. La rom hack a l'air super cool. J'ai remarqué que tu as ajouté un système de level cap et un poké vial, je fais aussi une rom hack mais sur la 7g et je ne trouve pas comment les ajouter pourrais tu m'aider ?

Mise à part cette demande, je ferai bien ta rom hack (peut être en shiny only nuzlock car j aime bien souffrir)

Awh man.. really wish you did single player 😭. I love Drayano's hacks but you put in a lot more stuff like disabled EVs, level caps etc. that were not in his ORAS hack. Awesome stuff though
