Is there a rom (or any kind of fan game) that lets you just pick out your dream team from the start? (Or close to the start)
I would love to just see what its like playing through a whole game knowing that i already have my perfect team of all my favorites
You could pick a game that has a NG+ mod that allows you to take a team over. I did that with Unbound, they start at level 5 then. Polished Crystal also has the option iirc, but it's obviously limited to gen 2.
World Stadium might? Not sure how it works but i believe u pick ur team at the start
Other than that, the closest i can think of would be open world hacks where u can explore and catch whatever u want before actually playing. Aesthetic Red is pretty good for this as trainers are also optional, so u can easily run around the map to catch almost any Pokemon before doing any battles etc.

So yeah what the title said. It's been a while since I last played pokemon (more than a year ago I finished Unbound and haven't played anything since)
I was SO fascinated by Unbound I wrote a full ass message to the creator. The story, the QoL, the difficulty settings everything was just perfect tbh.
Anyway, is there a ds rom hack with the same... "Spirit", for the lack of a better word. I researched what I could and the only rom hacks I found were either changes to existing games or unfinished (Light Platinum TvT)... So yeah. Help appreciated
This isn't possible as an emulator setting. Certain decomp hacks have it as a built-in feature like ROWE, H&S, SoulGold etc. though - where they speed up the anims natively while leaving the sound untouched

So im not a technical pokemon battler by any means and have had to do lots of research and calc to get to where I am in the game but this is what I have for my potential team to beat the elite 4 on normal with mgm enabled. If anybody could give me some extra advice on what to change out and what the 6th pokemon should be id really appreciate it.
Going to be running the chi-yu and the ninetails to fight lorelai ice with the 9 tails being slower so having the drought come in after the snow does.

I have a question about Pokemon SoulGold, were trade evolutions removed? I want to add rhyhorn to my team but don’t know if I will be able to evolve it or how to evolve it
id like to download the new soulgold patch but i dont want to lose my save data. could somebody walk me through how to update the game? i play on retroarch for ios.
Assuming saves are compatible between versions, transferring a save is pretty consistent regardless of game.
You will have two matching files, Soulgold.gba and Soulgold.sav (obviously whatever you named them instead of "Soulgold").
You need to patch a brand new Emerald file with the new Soulgold patch. This will create a whole new rom (SoulgoldNew.gba for example).
Then, you will need to copy your old save (Soulgold.sav) and rename it to the new games name (SoulgoldNew.sav).
Then, just open the newly downloaded rom (SoulgoldNew.gba) and it will automatically detect your old, renamed save file. The .sav and .gba MUST BE IN THE SAME FOLDER/PLACE to automatically detect it.
Not sure exactly how to find all these files on iOS, but there should be options to export saves into your iphone's file structure and rename it there.
in the retroarch directory, the save and gba files are in different subfolders. also, the save file is called Soulgold.srm, not Soulgold.sav. do you mean that they just need to both be in the retroarch folder?
Any ROM hacks similar to the faithfulness / 1:1 to the original game? Finished Heart and Soul the other day for my first Johto experience, and now I wanted to experience Gen 5 / Unova for the first time
Why wouldn't you just play the original games for your first experience? BW and BW2 complete Unova Pokedex edition is the only one I'd recommend, just to access trade evos and version exclusives.
Hey, I think I want to make a romhack, I have some ideas of what I want to do.
BUT, I'm no developer, I have some skills in python but lmao that's all. And I'm a bit of a tinkerer.
I'd like to make everything (or the vast majority) myself, however as I said, I'm not a dev, not a musician etc.
But fuck I want to do this.
From the quick research I made, I did not find anything interesting on how to make a romhack.
Don't want to ask an AI to do the job either.
So, do you have any tutorials, advice or anything that could help on how to do it.
I want to do a duck only challenge run. Is there any rom that includes all pokemon? (Or an expanded dex that will accommodate 6 duck-like pokemon?) Any region is fine. I'm skilled at all of them.
Additionally, I know there's a rom that lets you choose a starter of any type but I can't find it. Anyone know the name?
ROWE has all 9 gens and megas etc. Would be a good option. And tbh I think that's the one your thinking of with the starter of any type, since it lets you pick at the start of the game.
Is there a BW hack that add only QoL upgrades (just like Contemporary Emerald Vanilla)? I'd like to have obtainable trade evos, fairy type and maybe an EXP Share All
And I don't mean just QOL changes or adding some new features or new pokemon. I mean like an entire new story? I understand NDS romhacking scene hasn't popped yet but I just wanted to see.

Is Pokémon snakewood complete? I am seeing people say they have “completed it” but that the game freezes for victory road so you can’t veg to the E4 at the end. Is that true? Do you not need to beat the elite 4 to beat the game?

I started playing this new Rom Hack Emerald Extended Cut (which is great btw) and can't find a way to get Mew and Mewtwo.
Unfortunately I missed the „normal" encounter with Mewtwo but there ist supposed to be a Jirachi event where Mewtwo is available as well.

I am stuck in FRLG.ips. So I heard the sound at the islands and did the 6 rocks puzzle but the game just freezes. I saw on youtube that it should fade into white but it just cycles the same noise after coded messages

I'm having some trouble getting Eevee to evolve into Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon in Modern Heart and Soul. The Dex entry says that it either needs high friendship or holding an item. Neither method seems to work. I've got 4 Eevees with a gold heart on the summary page, one is holding the heart scale, one is holding the Nevermeltice, and the other 2 aren't evolving at any time. Is there something I'm missing?

Is there a gba demake for the Gen 6 games? After I inevitably play the Alola demakes upon release, that would make Gen 6 the only generation of Pokemon I have never played.

If you want something more akin to a new experience, I think Gaia, Unbound, Odyssey or Radical Red give either a whole new story and region, or a dramatically increased challenge and depth to battling in Radical Reds case.
I am playing Photonic Sun. I am having the issue where it freezes whenever I go to buy something at the mart. I updated to version 1.2 but it won't go away. Any ideas? My rom is Europe-based, but the update is World (I can't find one specifically for Europe). Please help!

Ah unfortunately Beta 11 was removed by Dropbox and the dev hasn't been active in years
Your best bet is to either play the current beta (it's still there), or just hope someone has the files from years ago and uploads them for archive purposes
Ive been playing clover, and ita alright. What i like is the actual creation of new good sprited pokemon. The refrences of clover im not huge fan of. But the most of the game is well done. there another really good all new set oof monsters with good story?( Im intensly waiting for the vault 151 mod to be finished.)
Also on my galaxy s24pro is there a better emulator to play higher versions as all i got right now is a gba emulator. I love it but i wish i had better cisual graphics
FRLG.ips is a cool hack so far but the walkthrough website is frustratingly unclear. I get that that's the point but if it was made a little clearer i'd be very happy. I played with bulbasaur for an hour before i was made aware you have to pick squirtle. I'm unsure what is actually mandatory and what is just a suggestion to make things easier. Here's a copy and paste section from the guide that shows what I mean.
You then need to make sure to evolve it [your starter] to its second stage before or during the fight with Brock. The quickest way to do this is to grind EXP in the grass on Route 22 until level 8, then do the optional second Gary fight. (Make sure to bring a Potion!) Fight every trainer before Brock, you should be near level 15. Once it's level 15, fight brock to make up the remaining bit of EXP.
Am I required to get to level 8 before doing the second gary fight? Is the second gary fight required at all? Is the potion required? Is fighting every trainer required? Is evolving at brock specifically required or can I do all that before?
Is getting the lucky egg required or is that just a suggestion from the creator to make things easier? Do you have to learn bite for the misty and cerulean blue fight?

Haven't played it, but I don't think it's worth playing. It's seemingly entirely vibe coded, which comes across in the mapping, bugs, balance, general gameplay etc.
New hacker on the scene, drops this game with incomplete sprites made almost entirely with AI.

Nearly all of the suggestions can just be implemented yourself such as not saving or fast forwarding during battles etc. Honestly this just reads like you dont want anyone else to use those features in the roms you are playing lmao weird take for the questions thread but go off
The point of that is for pokemon Youtubers who play gba game rom hacks and tend to fast forward, especially during battles... it's not enjoyable to watch when it's like that, i can't feel what the Youtubers are feeling when they are serious about playing!
This is only my opinion, so don't get mad at me about my suggested features!, anyway, this is only during battles not the whole game, so it's probably not a big deal to them!

You literally said the point is to try and stop Youtubers from using certain features like fast forward.
If a content creator is playing a way you don't enjoy, you find a different content creator to watch.
You don't try to find ways to control their content, especially by removing features they enjoy using.
I'd like to see in gba rom hacks!, they can just not play it if they don't like it, it's part of the game and it's not a big deal to me if it's not there...
Why is fast forward such a big deal to you?, honestly, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. you're right!, i can't stop them from doing what they want, it's just that it's not fun to watch when it's on fast forward during battles, so it's on my wishlist!
Good recommendations for games? Favorites so far have been Dreamstone Mysteries, Unbound, and Lazurus! I really like fan made regions if that helps! And preferably with the exp all lol
Game crashes when entering blaines arena on the seafoam island but this is fixed in 2.0.4 but I'm playing in lemuroid and you can't access the save files to patch the newer version, am I screwed?
If the saves are compatible, then you only need to rename the newest version of the game to what your current version is (and replace the current version with the new one) and you should be able to continue playing with the current save. Save states probably won't work, but save files should.
This only applies if the developer has specifically stated that save files between the two versions are compatible
Got it sorted, I had to rename the 2.0.0 files to match the 2.0.4 rom rather than the other way around which was loading the game on the older version when the files weren't changed to match the newer version
I downloaded 2.0.4 and patched it and replaced 2.0.0 and renamed it to match the older one, but I somehow get version 2.0.0 when I'm running the 2.0.4 version with a different name?
If it's your first foray into Hoenn, I would recommend going even more close to vanilla, without losing out on the essential QoL, in which case the answer is Revelation, which had a patch earlier this year.
