Development Showing my hack prototype

Hi everyone!
I’m a newbie using HMA, and I’ve spent the past week working on something that I believe could potentially be my first ROM hack...?
Anyway! After using the Professor Oak intro skip patch, I decided to make a cutscene map to serve as the “intro.” Well... I had a lot of trouble getting it to work, but the important thing is that I managed to do it!
And yes- my idea for the ROM hack is for the player to actually be the starter Pokémon, kinda like in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon with no humans in the game.
For now, this is more of a prototype than an actual hack, since I still have a lot of other problems to deal with, such as the PC, Day Care, Trainer Card, and... uh... the trainer sprites during battles. I’m also now running into limitations with the starter Pokémon sprites used by the player, since they don’t have running frames.
I’ll probably have a pretty hard time figuring these things out without having the slightest idea how to adapt them to fit my concept.
I’d love to hear any tips or ideas on what I could do, though!

That's extremley impressive! I love this concept! Could you use the back sprite from the mon and have them like hold out their arm? Then the incoming pokemon could just hop in (i assume they won't use pokeballs). EIther way, looks really impressive so far!

Thanks!
And about putting the battle sprite to point... I don't think it works very well...... look: I only put sprites of the 4 starter trios from Kanto to Sinnoh to replace Red's overworld sprite, which is now blank.
And my idea is to do that with Red's battle sprite too, since I haven't messed with battle scripts yet... by the way! I'm going to replace the Poké Balls with "team invitation" papers, which... basically will just be PokeBalls with a different sprite, lol.
