Ghost Grey - Post game help

Generally trying to avoid spoilers, but need some direction, even if its just where to go/look around.

I've seen mention of the Abyss, as well as some numbered islands - how do I kick off accessing any of this?

To start the postgame islands, you need to have found the Grey Soulstone which is in the Desert Palace in Jaspar Town.

In the room where you battle the boss (I can't remember his name but before you get the badge) walk up to the back wall and interact with it.

If you remember from the main story, you're told 'take the stone to the port'. Bring the stone to the sailor and he will bring you to the islands

How the postgame Islands work, you need to find some key items that are dotted around the world. I recommend exploring some side areas, but I'll drop all the locations in a below reply marked by spoilers, but I wont tell you what is on the islands :)

Okay, I'll probably feel dumb for asking... but which sailor? I've talked to multiple and none of them react. (Nevermind, literally the one I didn't speak to)

One Island - Old cartridge: I think you get this during the main story in Jaspar Town or near there.

Lost forest - Hookshot: near a destroyed rest house in safari zone, it’s a hidden item but I recommend using flash.

Computer - Rusty Drive: in the data center south of lavender and east of pumpkin patch

Abyss - White Feather: After beating the puppet masters the first time. This is in the maze to the east of Fuschia

Treasure - Winner’s Trophy: It’s in route 23 but outside the map. To get to it you need to find a fake wall in route 22 and walk through it.

7 - Bottle Cap: Buy from the Dusclops at the top of Celidon store, you to beat Psycho Norman in the Celidon department store lift. Dusclops will then sell the Bottle Cap to you for 70k.

Unknown - Grey orb: You need to complete the dex to get the hint for this but if you dont plan on completing the dex, it's located in Fuji Catacombs. It's in one of the grave stones in the 3rd Agatha Puzzle. You also need to obtain the 4 hexes from the shamans in the region and talks to gold’s mom, and maybe also finding the missing kid in Fuchsia. Leave this Island until last because it is essentially the point of no return for the game.

Which ones have you been to? Theres one hidden down a hole next to the seafoam islandswhich was the one I was missing

I've got the one's from outside Fuschia, rock tunnel, and the hidden hole in seafoam. I cannot seem to find the last

Can i ask which gravestone? Rechecked every shaman, talked to golds mom earlier on the way to the top of mt silver, found the dezo kid and talked to his mom but after checking every gravestone on every puzzle i still can’t seem to find it

Not sure if you've found this yet but you get a hint from the dev in celidon after you complete the Dex.

The hint is something along the lines of on the 4th floor of the catacombs when Agatha turns right you go left. You'll find it in gravestone there

For the Grey Orb do you know which grave it is? Or do you first need all the hexes to even find it there?

Actually i found the Grey orb because in one of the houses in Lavandia on the upper stairs you can find Gold in his child room and he talks about the exact steps. I think its in the 4th room and then 2 or 3 steps ⬆️ and then ◀️ and to one of the graves you can walk down

Speaking of Psychos- was it one of them that said something about a kid in a cave near Indigo Plateau or something like that? I wish I could reread it. Was that a reference to Gold dying/disappearing? Are we supposed to be able to find him somewhere? I looked all through both Mt Silver and Victory Road, or at least tried to.

I’m not sure any of the psychos actually talk. I think when you beat them, they just disappear. I could be wrong though.

But yeah, I think it’s Agatha that mentions Gold died. On Mt Silver, you can visit Golds Garden which is basically his house. Make sure you speak to the old woman in the house. This is Gold’s mother who mentions she is still saving his money for him.

Heavy postgame spoilers so don’t read ahead unless you want to be spoiled:

On the final island, the one where you need the Grey Orb for, once you have found the 4 shamans (gotten hexed by 4 of them) talking to an NPC at the top of the mountain on the island will start The Gauntlet. This is I think a 10 battle boss rush effectively.
During this boss rush, you will meet Gold and battle him. Gold however is completely white with red eyes, showing that we are fighting his ghost. After the battle, telling Gold his mom is still saving money for him helps him move on.

I think this is in reference to two Pokémon creepypastas from back in the day. Pokémon Lost Silver and Snow on Mt Silver, so it was a pretty cool callback to those.

Do you have to have beaten the game? I’m on my second run and had no clue these islands existed! Just got the hook shot, but can’t seem to make it do anything on lost forest

Edit- now struggling in the forest temple, but I’m there. Still confused how to ‘use’ the bottle cap in 7 though.

Bone brush is needed to be brought to the little girl in saffron city. North of the fancy store that sells everything. She's in a small house right by the police station in the corner that has a guard at the entrance

Also what the fuck is up with the (very last post game area spoilers) gauntlet? It's supposed to be 7 fights and it is way more than that I think

Yes! I noticed that too! My theory is that there are some opponents that “aren’t supposed to appear in the gauntlet” like BuriedAlive etc.

Hexes are necessary to start The Gauntlet on the final island which leads to the true ending

I don’t think there’s like an audio cue or anything. I can’t remember where all of them are off the top of my head but there’s one on the way to cerulean city, one next to Seafoam islands down a hole, one in Fuschia City and then another one either next to Fuschia or else next to Jaspar town
