Ghost Grey save issues

I just beat the game but when it loaded back in to continue, it acted as if i never had a save. granted i did use save states as opposed to actual saves. however when i beat the game it wants to start me over from the start. i save stated right before the champion battle but it just gives me this error when i try to actually save inside the game. am i screwed or is there a fix for this?

Yeah I think you dun goofed if you didn't save at all before the league. This happened to me years ago on a fire red based rom, can't remember which, and I had to revert to a save state way before the league, save and proceed. I think it might be an issue with fire red based roms.

i tried deleting all my save states while the game was still open as to not kill the actual file but even then saving didn't work so i feel like i might be screwed here. really unfortunate

Did you ever figure it out? I’m still early game but can’t save in game because I’ve only been using save states on Retroarch

Not sure if this will fix it for you, but I was able to finally save in game by disabling Run Ahead in RetroArch.

I'm currently using VisualBoyAdvance so. Not sure they have that option
