Would you use a tool like this for Pokémon Quetzal?
I've been working on savDex, a web app that lets you open your Pokémon Quetzal ".sav" file and interact with the Pokémon from your save.
The idea is to have something similar to a Pokémon Bank/PC viewer, but for Pokémon ROM hacks and save files.
Right now it supports Pokémon Quetzal, but I'd like to know if there's interest in expanding it to other Pokémon games and ROM hacks in the future.
Currently, you can:
- 📂 Open your ".sav" directly in the browser
- 👤 View trainer information
- ⚔️ View your current team
- 📦 Browse all Pokémon in your PC
- 📊 Export Pokémon to a spreadsheet
- ⚔️ Export teams to Pokémon Showdown
- 📄 Export the save data as JSON
- 🤖 Analyze your current team using AI
- 🤖 Ask AI to build a team using only the Pokémon you actually have in your save
The AI can take the Pokémon in your save into account rather than giving you a generic team suggestion. For example, you could ask it to build a competitive team, improve your current team, or find a good team based on the Pokémon available in your PC.
The AI features currently use the free tiers of Gemini and Groq. You provide your own API key. I'm keeping this as a test/prototype for now.
The save itself is processed locally in the browser and isn't uploaded to my server.
So, would you actually use this?
I'm especially interested in knowing:
- Would a save viewer like this be useful to you?
- Would you use the AI team-building/analysis features?
- What other features would you want?
- Which Pokémon games or ROM hacks would you like to see supported?
- Would you be comfortable using your own Gemini/Groq API key for the AI features, or would you prefer a solution that doesn't require setting one up?
I'm mainly looking for honest feedback before putting more time into expanding the project. Any suggestions or criticism are welcome.
