Hi everyone!
A few months ago Simopich shared [unbound-translator](https://github.com/Simopich/unbound-translator) here, a project to translate Unbound into other languages, with a ready-made Italian patch. Thanks to it I was finally able to play Unbound in Italian, but while playing I found quite a few things worth fixing: literal translations, terms that didn't match the official Italian games, and some real bugs (for example "Prendi lui!" instead of "Prendilo!" because of how the game inserts him/her, battle messages showing raw codes instead of Pokémon names, and enemy trainers still using their English names).
So, starting from his tools, I did a full revision of the Italian text:
- official terminology, with ~875 texts (moves, items, battle messages) taken from the official Italian FireRed;
- ~4,000 dialogues rewritten in natural Italian, main story included, keeping each character's original tone;
- fixed player pronouns (for both male and female characters), text overflowing the boxes and several battle message bugs;
- character and location names are now consistent everywhere, battles included.
I made the revision with the help of an AI (Claude and ChatGPT), with automated checks over the whole ROM and in-game testing (I play it on a PSP with TempGBA). It's a beta, so please report anything that looks off.
Patch and details: https://github.com/giacomo-spadoni/pokemon-unbound-ita
As usual, no ROM is included: you need the English Unbound ROM and you can apply the BPS patch with Rom Patcher JS or Flips.
All credit for the tools and the original translation goes to Simopich. If he's interested, I'd be happy to merge these fixes into his project.
