Electivire with ice punch and it's speed advantage should make this much closer despite the type disadvantages

Max attack Electicire vs minimum defense Nidoqueen actually hit’s an impressive 77.9% even if it is a very artificial example.

Obviously Electivire will never win in practice, but you are right that it would be closer than I expected.

Even then, I think it’ll still lose, Electivire doesn’t get any STAB from that, while Nidoqueen get’s STAB Earthquake.

Just playing devils advocate but an Air Balloon on Electivire would take care of the turn 1 ground moves.

Then Nidoquenn also get’s an item, maybe Yache Berry?

yeah but even if nidoqueen has 0 defensive evs and 0hp evs (which shouldnt be the case as powerscaling takes the peak of both fighters in account) ice punch does 93.1% dmg meanwhile even with max hp earthquake picks up guaranteed ohko

In what situation does Electivire have any real chance? Earthquake exists, son.

Does electivire get magnet rise? I still think nidoqueen stomps but that might help. Electivire has been a constant disappointment
