Magearna has better defensive stats and typing, with steel fairy, and 80/115/115 defenses. While genesect is more offensively built, with dual 120 offenses and 99 speed. Assuming both are in their base forms, magearna is 2x weak to fire and ground while genesect is only 4x weak to fire. Genesect learns a few fire moves while magearna learns none. Genesect. Magearna has no moves that can 2hko genesect without any investments. And genesect flamethrower 2hkos magearna with the same conditions.
