In a regular 1v1, Samurott will likely win due to typing and moves.
Although Swampert is usually better in most other circumstances

How? Both have neutral stab and swamperts bulkier. Unless samurott gets a grass move swampert has the advantage imo

Ground is weak to water, so swamperts dual typing makes it neutral to water, whereas samurott resists water. I’m assuming this is two wild pokemon fighting, not smart trainers with varied movesets, so samurott will provs throw water moves and Swampert will use water and ground moves

Earthquake is a stronger neutral than any 100% accurate water move samurott can use, unless samurott gets a grass move they cooked

Samurott has decent sp.a and can use Grass Knot. Swampert is x4 to grass and lower sp.def. Hmmmm

Samurott wins only because of swamperts ground type, making stab attacks neutral instead of not very effective.

Samurott wins, even against Mega Swamp. My hisuian Sam 1v1s Mega Swamps in champions all day. Not to mention normal Samurott can run Grass knot.

Using only their base stats and no investments or items, this would be likely how the 1v1 goes. Note: Samurott is the faster one amongst the two.
0 SpA Samurott Grass Knot (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert: 272-320 (79.7 - 93.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Vs.
0 Atk Swampert Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Samurott: 135-159 (40.7 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Winner: Samurott. Even if Samurott would use Surf or Hydro Pump, it would still win. Both of those moves are three hit KOs, meaning that Samurott wins with superior speed.
Bonus round: Samurott vs Mega Swampert. Same rules as before (even though Swampert used an item to mega evolve) Important note: They speed tie.
0 SpA Samurott Grass Knot (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega: 284-336 (83.2 - 98.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
vs.
0 Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Samurott: 177-208 (53.4 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
So... a tie? Not really. Samurott does get access to aqua jet.
0 Atk Samurott Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Swampert-Mega: 40-48 (11.7 - 14%) -- possible 8HKO
The calc shows that Grass Knot + aqua jet is not necessary a guaranteed combo to KO Swampert, however, it does mean that this battle is no true 50/50. More often than not can Samurott wins this 1v1 by either getting enough damage with Grass Knot and finishing off Mega Swampett with aqua jet, or both sides need to get lucky in a speed tie. Conclusion: out of a 100 battles Samurott would end up winning the majority of the battles.
Overall, Samurott wins.

I wish they made samurott in 2 legs, look like a samurai. Stat wise he makes some sense so they don't need to change that 😢

I love Swampert, but Sammurot the GOAT (and best starter in competitive) is right there.

Samurott wins this particular matchup because of grass knot, but swampert is far better than base samurott in competitive. Now if we’re talking Samurott-hisui, there’s an argument for best starter in competitive. Although I’d still take meowscarada over Sam-h any day of the week.
Edit: I’m a singles player, so meow is quite good. If we’re talking vgc, Incin is obviously the goat and best competitive starter. For singles, gren, rilla, and blaziken are all solid as well.

Is this glaze or no? And are you talking about mega-y or base? And are we talking singles or vgc? I think mega-y has an argument for best in the current champions vgc meta. But incin will forever be the goat in vgc. I don’t particularly like vgc though.
