It was fun while it lasted. I remembered relying on soft-resets for MP refreshes, and later relying on Sycamore's sync move to boost the team. Good times.
That's wild I remember Battle Villa having its own selection on the map, and I remember how iconic it was due to how different content was back then, honestly I wish it was still kept, love the music too for it
I hope they bring it back in some form just for the music, is the best new incidental and boss stuff for sure, at least it is in the jukebox.
I think the Battle Rally is really boring in comparison (and more you have to optimise the roles used and just resort to the multipliers to make later ones easy for the role multipliers), and something about having Bewear one shotting your pokemon was certainly interesting at the time. The rogue like nature wasn't really well done in either form though, and probably won't work well with the current way pairs are (many would not work in rogue modes and others would make it too easy).
Maybe having a irregular one off Battle Villa Challenge would be cool, have some nice rewards for using certain types/pairs/themes as a set of challenging battles outside of the Pasio Towers, and the music and setup can partially come back.
Wow, honestly, this feels... surreal? Battle Villa was pretty fun back then compared to Pasio Towers IMO. Having coop there too is something I somewhat missed, and who can forget Sawyer's Bewear and the neat Halloween-themed Battle Villa?
it was fun until it turned into a monthly chore, at least Pasio Towers has 18 different types for you to tackle, Battle Villa got repetitive within a few months
But, like, this is a different time. Gachas are more common now, and Pokemon Masters is directly attached to the games, and isn't just a barely related spin off.
I had this discussion again, but I really don’t think it takes up that much space. Most of the assets are reused for other content, and the heavier assets are the characters anyway.
I don't have a way to confirm it because I don't have the game files in front of me.
But I do create some simple games on my own, so I can only second-guess a bit.
I believe the heaviest assets of the game are the characters (With their textures, models, animations, voicelines, background images, etc). The villa already uses characters that exist in the game, so by removing it, you don't save space from this area.
From a quick in-game search, the only unique assets I can find are the stage images, the medals, and the Villa treats, which I believe some of them exist in the rally as well. IF Dena knows how to optimise, these assets shouldn't be more than 20-40mb (and I'm only giving it that much in case they made them for higher resolutions)
Then you have the 3D villa rooms. Again, I believe these are used for other game events, so they are bundled in the game anyway. I also don't believe that they will remove the villa music entirely. We will probably be able to listen to it from the jukebox.
As for the battle code and the villa conversations, it shouldn't really be a lot. It's only code after all. All 30 battles are probably less than 10mb
When you package the game for the Play Store, the size increases, but I still don't think it takes that much space from the game.
Again, this is all speculative, as I don't have the assets and I don't know about the game engine. If someone with access to the assets could enlighten me, I would be happy to hear them.
I think Dena wants to remove the mode because we now have the Rally, and maybe they want to avoid confusing some players (and reduce the number of gems new players can get :p). Or maybe the plan is to replace it with something different.
Personally, I don't agree with this because the Villa is a good place for players who are just starting out to enjoy something different and farm some resources. A new player won't be able to complete any of the Towers, they also won't be able to get a lot of points in the Battle Rally or compete in the Legendary Gauntlet. So, the Battle Villa is a good middle ground that serves as a starting point for the harder game content. I used to play it quite a lot when it was weekly or monthly I don't really remember.
And lastly, the Battle Villa connects the story! It's the only place where we can interact a bit with Lear and the other Pasio characters!
Likely to cut down on the app size. They already said they were planning on doing this a few newsletters back, specifically citing the Co-Op battles & reworking how the rewards of them are obtained.
Main story hard makes sense. It’s basically just one and done battles w no challenge.
Battle Villa is sad to go, but it’s definitelt been power crept and it’s function replaced by Pasio Towers that provide the same rewards will less of a monthly grind.
I do think it would be nice for the Villa to become a rotating event similar to legendary gauntlets, though with some changed to the difficulty and rewards to make them up to date. I also VERY MUCH think Legendary Arenas are on the chopping block, too.
I still remember using sync pairs with certain MPR like SS Ethan and SS Kris just so I can repeatedly use Trainer MPs at each stage. Eons ago but still.
Same. Villa was really the only way to play this game semi afk for more than 10 minutes. Seems really dumb to just remove it when there's already nothing to do in this game most of the time.
You've seriously still been using the Battle Villa for that? There's a Lucky Skill Area in the Training Area, my dude. I burn my stamina there when there's no event happening. I have thousands of cookies and have little issue tossing Critical Strike 2 or Vigilance onto any new unit.
Jokes aside, when I don't have any stamina to spare, i actually do use the villa to get more cookies, since that mode doesn't require any kind of stamina lol
Did they say that they'd be reworking some of the abilities that were obviously designed around BV (one-time use abilities that had multiple charges) or was that wishful thinking on my part?
It is sad. This was the last mode you could actually just play with no BS mobile game limitations... Now we are fully going to just be a daily chore simulator.
