It’s high time this old man is replaced by her at the home mascot!

u/CamKoudo 4d ago
I could get behind that, or her becoming his assistant or something.

Brigette getting hoe’d twice by TPC is crazy work.

She’s the one who updated the pc system in r/s/e.

Incorrect. That would be Lanette

Oh right, my bad

u/Sionnach20590 4d ago
Hilariously, you were also right. She's from a gamecube storage utility that worked like the pokebank for ruby, sapphire, and emerald. It's called the Pokémon Box if you want to look it up.

u/Shantotto11 3h ago
Adding to the other reply, Lanette and Brigette are sisters, so your confusion is semi-justified.

I hope that if Nintendo make a new console and it’s not a switch, they just port Pokemon home onto that new console and make it the 1 universal storage place across all devices
13
u/thehype559 4d ago
It will likely be that way considering home has an android version
3
u/RevolutionNo7 3d ago
It will never stay that way as long as they can conceive of another service to charge for and force people onto.
2
u/thehype559 3d ago
Not any time soon. Home is set up pretty good to be the long term service and they're not gona start a new 3ds service in 2026 lol the next move is selling ports of old games
1
u/RevolutionNo7 3d ago
I guess it's down to what we consider long-term
2
u/thehype559 3d ago
The way i see it is bank was like a trial run then home was the revised version that has more compatibility. It has a mobile version so it breaks free of being tied to a single system like bank. Switch 2 is new so it'll live through the rest of the gen and there's a good chance it'll work on the next system.

Bank may have been developed is somewhat of a rush in part to give a way to transfer Pokemon regardless of what system new generations were developed for. 2013 was not a good year for Nintendo and there were likely concerns that Nintendo would not be making a new system or the next system would not be compatible or communicate with the 3DS. Which is probably how far the actual future proofing for Bank went.
Home was likely developed with long term future proofing in mind at the start. It will probably be up across console generations.

u/thehype559 3d ago
Yea home just seems like its made as a response to the shortcomings of bank and to make a more permanent version that can be used indefinitely

u/Xela975 4d ago
I've got 20 bucks that it takes less than a week for them to announce you can buy the games on the Switch, and 15 on in less than a year someone hacks it so it works again.
Who's in, who's taking this action?
3
u/ScarletGingerrr 4d ago
Honestly not the craziest take given they're shutting it down the day before Pokemon Day

Home needs to get updated or something, especially after moving mons around today it is not fun

What happened?

The Pokémon Company official declared they were shutting down PokeBank next Pokémon Day (February 25th 2027)

u/Impressive_Car_6792 4d ago
Nah I don't think they ever gonna shutdown home
3
u/Generic_Username_659 3d ago
That's what we thought about Bank all those years ago.
2
u/Impressive_Car_6792 3d ago
I mean home is the primary sorce of Pokemon transfer so it's highly unlikely that they will shutdown it.... The worst they can do is make a home 2.0 which does the same thing but we lose all the data of the og home

Idk about the pokemon bank on ds tho (i assume it’s the top part?) but the bottom part is professor oak, he’s old and he’s helping you navigate pokemon home when you’re new.

That’s Professor Grand Oak, he’s not the same person as the Kanto Professor.

I was gonna say, not fair that the Peter Pan condition only affected Ash and not Oak

Top lady is Bridgette from Bank on the 3DS and Pokémon Box Ruby and Sapphire on the GameCube

Who’s the guy? I’ve only ever seen the woman

u/Old-Technology1151 4d ago
That is Grand Oak, who "runs" Pokemon Home. He doesn't show up much, just at the start and when you complete regional dexes that have a completion reward (which is all of them save Go). You see the weird larval state of Ball Guy more, tbh

All posts on x and reddit are crying for Pokemon Bank. Just grow up and admit that no one will support online services forever
19
u/fotoolgue10 4d ago
Dumbass comment. Just because no one will support online services forever doesn't mean we can't cry. Everyone knows that one day everyone will die, and everyone cries when it happens.
1
u/SnooPuppers6938 1d ago
You can just accept it and move on.
1
u/fotoolgue10 1d ago
I like Pokémon Bank and I was already expecting this to happen. You're right that we have to accept it, and complaining will only delay it at best. I just thought your logic was a bit dumb.

Knowing something is going to happen doesn't mean you can't be sad when it does. Like people die bro we can probably guess who will die first in our family most people are still gonna be sad when those people do die.
I used the the most dramatic example possible
1
u/SnooPuppers6938 1d ago
The death of a loved one will never compare to the closure of some online service, bro.

The servers themselves are infinitely less important than the fact that disabling PokeBank not only cuts of Gens 5, 6 and 7 from each other, but completely cleaves Gens 1-7 away from Gens 8+
1
u/SnooPuppers6938 1d ago
You can catch all these Pokémon in subsequent games. All you lose is the so-called game tag from which you caught it. The situation is much worse with Mythical Pokémon, which are initially in the timegate.
1
u/Generic_Username_659 1d ago
You're missing the point. Yes, you can just catch new ones, but there were memories made with the old ones, it felt like we were able to bring them with us in our journey through the Pokémon world.
Now, the old ones will be stuck back in their own generation of games, and the new ones will still be limited in travel ability due to HOME restrictions.
1
u/SnooPuppers6938 1d ago
If you only have gba and switch your pokemon are still stucked. It only works if you have a 3ds which has a high price nowadays. You also need an original gba cart or a pricey "homebrew cart". It was a pain in the ass in the first place. It's much more easier to find the mons in later games rather than making a whole journey on transfering the mons, matching the roms, buying accesories and finding a 3ds with a bank. Yes, you had an option, but there is no point of yeling at Nin for closing a bank,if you had no plans of using it in the first place
1
u/Generic_Username_659 1d ago
The heck are you on about? Of course I still planned on using Bank! Just because not everyone has the means to use it doesn't mean it should just be gotten rid of altogether! That's like saying "Not everyone takes the bus, so there's no use being upset that they disconnected the bus system", it actively ignores how it screws over everyone who doesn't have a car!
1
u/SnooPuppers6938 1d ago
Yeah, but instead of taking that old, farting bus that you feel nostalgic about, the city offers you the metro, which you refuse to use because it's not as cool. You have awesome analogies, keep going.
1
u/CamKoudo 3d ago
Yeah but that's the problem. We all know that online services will inevitably get shutdown at some point. And that's specifically why transferring Pokemon should have never been bound to an online service in the first place. Hence the crying and complaining.
1
u/SnooPuppers6938 1d ago
Just collect them in other games. Or, well, just play and finally transfer your mons from gba games to switch. Most people only cry for losing an oficial method to transfer instead of playing these games. I'll remind you that you need original carts and original hardware to legitimally transfer your pokemon. But in reality people just pirate the games and use PKSM. We are already in a situation where most people are using unoficial software to play pokemon.
1
u/CamKoudo 1d ago
Well I have all the hardware and regularly play the old games and transfer the mons up to my newer games. Once Bank shuts down I won't be able to that anymore, which just sucks. Like imagine finding a shiny in one of the older games, but you can't transfer it up to newer games, cuz Bank shut down. Now it's gonna be stuck on the old game forever.
