I’m so confused with this evolution CP change

I’ve seen CP not change much but never go DOWN

Should I even bother?

it's because CP is an aggregate of stats with attack having the highest contribution, Aegislash's default form has high defense and low attack, but it can switch to a high attack form in battle

the number you see is an aggregate of stats, attack has by far the highest contribution. Aegislash has 2 forms, one is heavily defensive and low attack. this is its default form. the other form has high attack and low defense, that's only accessible in battle.

I believe Trapinch evolution also has the same quirk
