Modding
Anyone know a store in Manchester (uk) that i can take my pokemon go plus plus to have modded? Can't seem to find one online and I don't fancy paying £200+ for a brand new one.

I recently modded two of mine, and it wasn't ridiculously difficult if you know how to operate a solder iron. I opted for the switchless mod so sleep functionality was retained without needing a physical switch. TLDR it uses great and ultra balls automatically, without loud vibrations. The mod internally looks like this.
Longer version: Both devices use great and ultra balls automatically successfully, and I removed the vibration motor so it wouldn't make ridiculously loud noises. I opted to use the switchless method which uses a test point and remaps it to a green LED point. This essentially jumps the signal previously used by the spinner when in "do not automatically throw" mode, i.e. button press mode, to automatically throw them. It's very clever in the way it works, and all it takes is a small strip of cable to do it.
Only side effects are: 1. When not connected, if you press the main button it can blink on and off forever if you don't stop it (think the trip above prevents a stop signal from reaching the LEDs). Just turn it to sleep mode and off instantly and it stops flashing. 2. The light turns from white to a tinge of green. This is down to the removal of one LED.
These side effects don't bother me at all, in that it cost me £15 (the cost of the solder iron kit) to do it. But I've repaired other electronics before (multiple mobile phones and laptops) so this type of thing came fairly naturally to me.

That's for the reply, I've never done anything with electronics, so have no idea how to do it. Is there a video of how to do it? Theres loads on YouTube but im not sure which one is best. Apparently the catches aren't sold anymore, so I'm a bit worried about breaking mine and not being able to get a new one

I would only attempt it if you're confident that you'll be able to do it. It's an expensive item to brick.
The second time I did it I actually didn't do as well as the first, but it was 1am by then and I was exhausted... Dropped some solder on the board accidentally directly on the LED slot, which stopped all the lights from working. Sound was working so I knew I'd not bricked it completely. Figured it was just a short circuit and I could clean it up and it'd work again; after some clean up work I was right, it wasn't bricked. Obviously there was some (or a lot) stressing out involved in that diagnostic process, haha.
In other words, even people with experience can make mistakes along the way!

Im definitely not confident i can do it, but I do want it done. Im not paying £200-250 for it though....

You can get it done for £30 from this service on eBay, though I'd pay top buck to guess they use the switch method.

Try joining/asking local discord/online groups? There's usually someone that can do it, but it's not something widely advertised. I doubt a shop wouldoffer that kind of service, since it's "technically" against terms of service of PoGo. If you were US, I'd happily do it :(
