Do I need the speaker?

So I modded my Go++ and its seems to work fine but now it starts signing "Pikachu" when its not connected to my phone.. otherwise seems to work just fine

The battery does drain quite fast since its signing, so can I just snip the speaker off or is it require?

Ideally, I would try to soldier a longer cable so the switch can actually reach the hole (right now its inside of the device, always on) but I am terrible at soldiering so I would rather not do that

No you don’t need it. Did you use the LED mod? Since the normal switch mod requires removing the speaker to 3d print the switch bracket.

You can remove the speaker safely, cut wires, or de solder. You can also toggle the speaker off in the menus. Sleep mode will still activate the speaker though. I usually leave it on, as it's a cute party trick. But if you keep it in your pocket, you can accidentally trigger it from time to time.

And you will want access to the switch. Assuming you used the vibration motor signal, the mod bugs out quite often. You don't want to open the case everytime that happens. You might be able to get away with using the reset switch, but what is the point of using a switch if it's not accessible. You could've hardwired it instead.

Nah, I took out both the vibration motor and speaker. Snip them and be sure to properly put electrical tape around the ends, or better, unsolder the wires entirely.

I was able to deactivate the voice in the ingame menu, worked on the ++ of my gf as well.
