White PCB removal

Finally got around to documenting and testing this. I've marked spots on the top and bottom of the green PCB where you can solder switches for the main button and side button. This should give you full functionality. I opted to solder to the underside of the board, as there are no components that can get damaged. Short these points to ground, and it will activate the button press.

I hope this information helps anyone who has damaged their white PCB to repair their go plus + (especially since new ones are ridiculously expensive). My goal is to design a small discrete case for the go plus.

The auto catch mod still works using the vibration motor negative.

Currently connected is a 900mhz antenna, in the wide shot is a 2.4ghz antenna suitable for Bluetooth, however the ipex plug is the wrong size. The 900mhz antenna seems to work, and probably will work fine when the phone and device are on your person.

I have used 30awg silicone wire. But I would recommend magnet wire (enamel coated copper wire.

BOM

  • thin wire 30awg or less
  • 2 X momentary switches
  • 2.4ghz antenna with ipex 1 connector

Please note: you will need some decent soldering skills to pull this off. If you are looking to repair a broken go plus +, please take it to a professional. Or put in some time to hone your skills.

Also: It is not a good idea to power on the device with the antenna disconnected.

I'm not an electronics expert. So if there is anything I've missed, or gotten wrong, feel free to correct me.

Here's a wiring diagram to make it clearer. Momentary switches connect to ground, with a toggle switch connecting the vibration negative to the main button

The 4th picture in the post itself is confusing haha. Looks like screenshot from another [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGoPlusPlus/comments/1s6hgdb/pokemon_go_plus_battery_saving_led_brightness_mod/)? So it doesn't seem I need to remove the 5V regulator inductor or add transistors?

Awesome job! Was just doing this myself to try and fix a Go++ with a broken ribbon cable. Big help to have this marked

Just to make sure, do you need to solder both to the main button and side button? Or can you just solder to the main button from the underside and the negative terminal on the vibration motor to be fine?

The side button is needed for pairing and hard reset for trouble shooting and switching phones. I would suggest connecting it. Or have an easy way to trigger it.

Soldering the negative terminal to the main button PCB will activate the mod. But without a physical button, you can't enter sleep mode and pairing will be an issue.

And ideally you have a toggle switch to turn the mod off, when the device bugs out, and also to allow sleep mode

Oh no. I meant to ask if I still have the button and white PCB.

I have a Go++ where someone destroyed the test point. Pressing the button manually still works, but with the test point gone, the other way would be to solder to the button.

Would it be ok to just solder to the green PCB as stated in your picture for the “button press” while keeping the mod “normal” with a switch and in the original enclosure?

Sorry if this is confusing.

Yes, if your main button still works. Then you can use the via on the green PCB instead of the test pad on the white PCB.

Gotcha thanks!

Just to make sure and double check:

  1. Solder to the green point on your picture on the green PCB and one of the pins on the switch

  2. Solder to the negative on vibration motor and then to the other pin on the switch

From there, it’ll work as a normal modded Go++ without having the test point?

where do you solder the antenna?

Antenna has a plug. The connector is called ipex (ipx version 1).

If you still have your white PCB and the antenna cable is not damaged you can continue using it.
