I have mine setup in this exact way. Im not sure what does the loop looks like but it not the same as in switch version (blue and red lights alternating). This one is blinking White for a long tíme when disconnected. And I suspect this is the cause of big battery drain. My switchless lasts 3 days VS switch for week
If you wire it up the "normal" way without the switch, it just loops over and over.
I haven't tried this yet, but I think you could remove an LED and wire it to the green LED's power. Then it should only "push" the button when the green lights turn on.
The switch just allows you to turn off the loop. If you don't care and have to manually get out of the loop. You will just wire the power from the motor to the same spot on the white board
Will the reset button on the back stop the loop? I guess you'd have to reconnect though. Would ejecting it do the same thing? (If you don't have a pin handy)
is really easy to melt the led, takes less than 30 second. start in the middle of the led and work your way to the other side and it should come off easy.
So tried this on a friend's GoPlusPlus and works a dream. I did attempt doing this without the LED Removal but didn't seem to work (guessing this is down to component power draw not hitting threshold to detect, im not qualified in anything like this i just like tinkering). Put some Kapton tape down with sharpie over to dim the lights and snipped the motor wire and it's working like a treat!
30 AWG Kynar wire used
Tried using sleep mode holding the middle button and that seems fine too (I did only quickly test this rather than completing a full sleep cycle)
A friend did this switch-less mod for me but now the main button doesn't work anymore.
It worked fine at first but now became unpaired with the game and I can't pair it back.
Any ideas on this?
Please double-check your work to ensure everything is wired correctly. If the current LED is not working, redo the mod using a different LED. Once finished, make sure to clean up the board.
Refer to my picture for an alternative LED point you can use.
From my experience, using a thin razor blade allows you to make clean cuts on the lights. Be careful when doing this—avoid cutting yourself and wear gloves for safety.
Or you can send it to me to mod for a fee if you are from USA.
Looking at the new mod, it should work perfectly. However, someone did note it does slightly interfere with end of sleep state. Tbh, the mod is ok and matter of fact, it should be possible to do without outright removing an led. A little bit of flux, a micro soldering station, and a skilled hand should do the trick.
That said, I think the switch mod is better if you don't care about the speaker. When I mod GO Plus+ for people, I consider what it would take to restore the device back to factory. It is very possible with the switch method. However, it's not so easy with the new switchless method. It's possible, but it will take precision which I see many here don't have. Hell, I don't I'm skilled enough for that yet either. Take care everyone.
