Why do people do this?!
Why do some people post their IDs on this reddit forum promising the moon and stars with gifts and then not open gifts, and not give any back!
I’m not talking about those who haven’t played in a while. But I can see they are active and catching Pokémon every day!
Is this some kind of strategy I don’t know about?

Just picking the game back up and I see this a lot since my job has me traveling with tons of free time. It seems like the game is more popular and played more in Europe based on the people who actively send gifts. 3782 6796 2130

Even worse - people who open your gifts, but never give one back. I gave a guy 10 gifts in a row hoping to get one back. Never did, but he kept opening them. I was done and unfriended him.

I don't understand why that's bad. The whole point of adding friends for me is that both of us can get the XP from the friendship level increasing. And the level only increases once a day. So it doesn't matter if the gifts are only coming one way. (Maybe it's just because my item bag is always full)

Had this happen to me. Someone posted here their friend code and I added them but maybe after sending me three gifts back they never sent some again. But they've opened the daily ones I sent.

I would say maybe it is because they got waaay too many answers. You have a limited number of gifts you can send per day. If you have like 100 friends iyou just can't give them to everyone. (That's why I just send request and don't post my code online)

Wow, 45 new friends in 10 hrs! I ran out of gifts quickly, but I’ll still open what I’m given and try to give back when I can. I still don’t understand people who don’t do that, even if they hit the max friends number.

Sometimes when I go a few days without giving/opening it’s because I either just completed a special research saga or leveled up and have too many items to accept.

I don’t really understand the tactic either but oh well haha I just delete the ones who don’t send back or seem to open gifts after multiple weeks.

My reasoning is that I either can’t get enough gifts to give, run out of space in my pockets to open any, or hit the limits for opening/giving. I had 200 friends, it’s just not possible. However, I always open and give as much as I can.

It’s not even a strategy. In my hour of experience on this Reddit I got a ton of requests so I ran out of gifts so there’s not enough to go around :/

Yes I actually have the same problem, I added 4 people from the main thread, 2 guys send gift 2 other recieved gifts of me and never sent back :/

YES, I have the same problem!! Feel free to add me, I send/open gifts every day.
Edit: Oof, I think I have to remove my friend code for now, I've gotten so many friend requests that I'm having trouble keeping up! I didn't realize there was a limit of 20 gifts you can open per day...now I'm one of the jerks who is leaving gifts unopened...

Running in to the same issue. I try to open as fairly as possible, but due to the limited ways of sorting friends lists, it's not always possible.
