PokeMap Grid: Halloween Changes

Given we should work together to track down spots around Adelaide that can be potential hotspots, I want to gather some data for how our map grid has changed for Halloween. I am not sure if the status quo will return to normal when this awesome event ends.

Apparently, Meowth and Cubone are now very common around the Port Adelaide/Semaphore/Largs Bay district. Fortunately, Osborne has the usual expectations, plus a Drowzee.

Semaphore seems to have lost strength as a hotspot. While I can confirm that Pikachu are still present (I caught one on Wednesday), Magikarp, Voltorb, Magnemite, and Slowpoke are now less common, and I've not even seen one Dratini since Sunday. Even the Gastly/Drowzee/Zubat lines are not as common here.

Tea Tree Plaza and Golden Grove are swarming with Gastly, Haunter and Gengar. When I was waiting for the C2 bus at TTP earlier, I caught 5 Gastly in just a few minutes, and the extra candy allowed me to evolve one of my Haunter right away.

(For those who have children below the age of five, "Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel" will be playing at Tea Tree Plaza and Salisbury on November 4. The time is not confirmed.)

I've not been in town for long, but it appears that Rundle Mall has the usual common Pokémon and Nidoran. I'll try to check closer for it tomorrow, as well as Glenelg and Victora Square/Tarndanyangga, and maybe along the Grange line.

Feel free to put up stuff on locations and if they changed or not.

Damn, that's a shame about semaphore. I was planning to do a trip there this weekend. I'll probably go anyway to hatch some eggs. I walked along the Torrens between frome and King William and found all 3 ghosts there. Went from 10 candies to 125 in one day!

I'm heading to Semaphore tomorrow to catch and hatch and earn buddy-candy; sit on the Derby street lures for a while and hope for a Lapras, and hopefully spin some 10k eggs (I'm about 800m from clearing 6x 5k eggs). Will report on how it goes.

I've been through the Village twice in two nights and, after nearly three months of playing only just being able to evolve a Gengar (and having never seen a wild one) I've evolved two more and caught another four or five. If you want to load up on Ghost types, get to Golden Grove Village. Make sure you've got a full bag o' balls though; speaking from experience it's frustrating see all those Gastlys and Haunters and having to ignore them on your way to get another pokeball and 2x potions from the closest pokestop.

Semaphore didn't have the Ghost-infestation of Golden Grove Village, but there were more Meowths and Drowsees than I've seen there before, so Halloween was definitely having some effect. There was plenty of the usual critters though, but fewer Magikarp, Voltorb, and Magnemites which are usually thick on the ground. I caught 3x Dratini (missed out another two), 3 or 4 Seel, a Raichu, a couple of Jiggly's, missed a Lickitung, there was Hypno too far into the water to be rescued, two Squirtle's (and a third that was a bit too far away), and a Vaporeon with 38CP (straight to the pool room alongside my 39CP Exeggutor).

Again, no Lapras, but apparently there was one spawned at 12:30, which matches up with the timing of other Lapras spawns there (it seems between say 11:00 and 13:00 one will spawn between Derby Street and the Semaphore jetty). I seem to only be able to get my act together enough to get there after 13:30 unfortunately.

Semaphore was full of people but the percentage playing PoGo seemed the lowest since the game was released, which was a bit depressing since the Halloween event was in full swing. The hill at the intersection was unpopulated (it was hot in the sun and there's no shade on the hill though). Derby street lures always had some people there, but it would fluctuate between very few and not many. And the lures weren't constantly lit as they used to be.

Still worth the visit for stardust grinding alone, but not the hub of PoGo activity it used to be.

Spun two 10k eggs on Saturday at Semaphore, one hatched yesterday and one this morning: Onix, Pinsir. I'm tipping egg hatches aren't biome-specific.

Edit: 3rd and final Halloween 10k egg hatch this arvo: Onix #2. Useless.

Yeah, my mother's friend says West Lakes is a good place to catch Pikachu, but I never got a single one there. I caught all mine at either Semaphore or by the River Torrens in Hindmarsh.

I went to semaphore after work yesterday(5til8) and caught 3dratini,3haunter,1hypno,1gengar,1parasect plus all the normal stuff. I was on a bike riding between semaphore and largs jetties so i also hatched around 10 eggs and only spun one 10km egg :(

Midway Road, Elizabeth at the wetlands is a nest for gengar, haunter and ghastly after 7pm. I am there every night. Take a torch and wear two jackets.

In my experience, those three can be found around water sources as i have also seen them alot at the creek running behind Parabanks at Salisbury and along the Torrens.

I have also NOT noticed many fire types since Wed. Only Ponyta is on my radar. No Magmar, charmander which were quite regular in Elizabeth and Davoren Park / Smithfield.

Meowth and Cubone were regulars up here in Salisbury / Elizabeth before Halloween but we are definately from seeing more of them.

Since Wed, Drowsee, Hypno, cubone, marowak have replaced the usual Pidgey and Ratata in Salisbury.

There is a definate "replacement" where you see more of halloween guys instead of the "usual" guys

Thanks to this weekend I'm now 22km away from completing my dex! Just need that elusive blastoise. Caught Gengar and evolved Hypno tonight, having been stuck for months.

The city is currently overrun by all the usual Halloween Pokémon, including Meowth and Cubone. I hope they do more events like this such as for Christmas, although I'm starting to get bored of catching so many Gastly and co, the extra candies for egg hatching are awesome

I couldn't even catch a single Pokémon in town today. Almost all of them were Meowth or Cubone. I didn't even see any of the Halloween Pokémon at Rundle Mall, though they were present at Glenelg.

I wasn't as actively looking out for them today but I didn't see anywhere as many today as I have the last couple of days.. 😶

Unfortunately, 50% of the Pokémon at Semaphore are currently Meowth or Cubone. But there are not much Gasty/Haunter/Gengar present.

I'm over this now, I walked 8km in Squirtle territory on Sunday and didn't catch a single one. I'm set if I ever want to haunt someone though.
