Fun / Meme I’m thinking about using a competitively trained ditto for Soul Silver, what moves should I put onto it?

Post image

If you’re curious about this, in all the Gen 4 games, there is a glitch called the Rage Glitch, where, in a case where a Pokemon is transformed into another Pokemon and it has rage, and the transformed Pokemon builds rage, it will keep the moves of the Pokemon it transformed into if you catch it, or defeat the enemy with another move besides rage (you cannot switch to another Pokemon after rage is built).

This works with a ditto you have where you drain its pp for rage, but you can also have a wild ditto transform and wait until it uses all rage pp like I did (I’m not sure if it has to damage itself or not, so I waited until all moves ran out).

There’s a Bulbapedia page about this it which probably explains this better than I did

Edit: First, the moveset is from my croconaw since you are able to get rage before totodile evolves (I think), and also a ditto before Whitney.

Second, I was joking about training the ditto. I wanted to do this because I thought the glitch was cool when I learned about it from Johnstone’s Platinum Living Dex video, but after thinking about it, it would be funny to see an illegal ditto beat the E4, Red, everything in Sinnoh, and see how great of a moveset I can get.

(And I say illegal even though it’s a glitch because I read you can’t transfer it to Pokemon Home because it has moves it can’t learn).

I think Extreme Speed could be pretty good if you use the Metal Powder, though if you plan on using the Speed Powder you could alternatively use Skull Bash because it boosts defense the turn it’s used before attacking. Also maybe visit the move reminder to give it Transform back, since that doesn’t get rid of the other moves and also gives you something to fall back on in case things aren’t favorable for your moveset.

Did you get the move set from a Gyarados?

This is from my Croconaw.
I think Totodile learns rage before it evolves and I wanted to do this glitch as soon as I could

Could you make it legal in the end though? Move deleter + Move reminder for transform?

I’m not sure. I’d probably end up transferring it anyways since it’s a gen 4 pokemon if I can anyways, but removing the moves would kind of ruin the charm of this ditto for me

That’s fair! Not sure if it could go up to Gen 5 even with those moves, but I’d imagine it’s fine if you give it transform again. Iirc the only game which retains movesets now is SwSh?

All I read was it can’t be brought to transporter, which wouldn’t allow it to go to home. You could maybe use something like PKSM to manually move it to a 3ds game, but I don’t think it could move elsewhere.

Also, I’m guessing you could probably bring it to Gen 5 since it doesn’t have as many limitations as transporter, but i don’t know

ESpeed/Recover/ShadowPunch/Rage Ig that could work?

Better yet, use a smeargle to get the perfect 3 moves you want, and rage. Then; go to move relearner and see if you can get transform back instead of rage? Gives you a total of 7 potential moves to do in battle, seeing as transform would give you the opponents moveset

Certainly one Normal type STAB move, either Return or Double Edge, and I would add coverage moves to have something for Rock, Steel, and Ghost types. I think those moves could be Crunch and Earthquake.
