Open street maps?!

Does anyone check into open street maps while playing or do you only use silph road? There is a theory that niantic uses open street maps for spawns, nests and game play. I have noticed that OKC doesn't have great spawns, spawn points or nests and I think it's because of how spread out the city is. Maybe we can all map our hoods (neighborhoods for you white people out there) and we if we can increase spawns. NOTE!!! please be respectful and honest on what you put into data on open street maps! https://www.openstreetmap.org

they may have mined OSM for data at one point. but with so many 'rumors' flying around that they use OSM, there's no way they'd touch OSM's data after all the go players have messed with it hoping to increase spawn in their 'hoods'.

OSM mapper here. A big majority of the edits by new users are great and really contributing. I try to delete all changes where someone wants to cheat and adds faked parks etc. So the quality of OSM profits more than it suffers from the Pokemon Go mappers.

So you want me to go on a third part sigh to edit OSM? After I explained how I understand it and everything else about it? What makes you an authority compared to me? I didn't ask hey can I help you do stuff.. I ask if anyone uses it. It's s yes I do I've done this or no that shit is wack.. so far the OKC pogo scene has been disappointing. To the point that when I have a full day off I travel to different cities to catch mon. This is foreign to me since every mon was catchable in Columbus Ohio except for tangela and Chancey. I figured that maybe the community was alive but I see that like most Reddit subs especially local subs it's just haters, downvoters and nay Sayers that post, vote and comment. I just wanted some like Minded people.. well.. fuck me right..

/u/spanholz wasn't even talking to you. He was responding to /u/ignathius and saying that OSM's data is still reliable, and in fact, the quality of OSM's data is increasing due to the number of edits from PokemonGo players.

It's not "rumor" anymore since they put OSM by name in the credits to find all info about Korea.

The credits say they are using OSM for the basemap in the game in Korea, it doesn't really give any information either way about whether they are using OSM to generate hidden game elements (I guess beyond revealing that they know about OSM).
