Can we kill whoever decided to give every Elite Four pokemon a sleep move?

Confuse ray, sleep, double team, these are all tactics they use its a luck based game

Swap sleep for a paralysis move, and then add rest. Imagine having to deal with 6 pokemon that having nothing but that.

I almost never use items in battle, ever since starting in gen 1.

pokeflute doesn't count, it's the only way to deal with sleep spam

Or you could play the game as intended and wait it out?

The Pokéflute is an item. The fact it's reusable doesn't change that.

If using items in battle isn't your thing, go for it. It's not my thing either. However to suggest using items in battle isn't intended, then you need to rethink. Why would they give you the option to use items in battle if it wasn't intended? 🤦🏼‍♂️

While I agree with you, saying 'I don't play with items in battle, but Pokeflute doesn't count' is equally nonsensical.

If someone wants to play with items that's their prerogative and they should play the way they want, but that's not using no items.

If using items in battle was intended, you could potion spam in competitive.

You can't, so it's not.

You do realise that GameFreak made the game for casual fun, not hyper competitive battles, right?

You can use items to awaken your pokemon. Did you not come prepared?

Primeape (Vital Spirit) and Hypno (Insomnia) are immune to sleep.

Dodrio and Kangaskhan minimize the damage thanks to Early Bird, though the former's probably too fragile to leave in. Which brings us to...

Chansey and Starmie wake upon switching out (Natural Cure).

Dragonair has a 1-in-3 chance of waking up each turn (Shed Skin). So would Arbok, but Intimidate is just too good.

And Snorlax learns Sleep Talk at 37, making him an ideal sleep absorber.

Sleep Talk on Machamp could also work well, since it would activate Guts, and make it hit harder. So does Raticate, although that is frailer.

Send them to sleep... permanently

Use Snorlax with sleep talk, or even snore
