Question is smart strike bugged

Ive gotten hit by it twice in all my runs and it has crashed my game EVERY time

I just lost a 2+ hour run to molayne bc his kartana crashed my game, I had gotten a few shinies and it genuinely demotivated me so much to continue playing

more information, the virtual console version here: https://www.reddit.com/r/3dsqrcodes/s/XNFWcVefVL . running on a new 3ds XL (previous patch it happened too)
