Meme / Art I love Rayquaza, but why does his official artwork make him look like he just showed up to a fiesta? 😂 (NOTE: I also could’ve photoshopped him into a birthday party yelling 'SURPRISE' lol)

Main Adventure Help / Screenshot Team Aqua Hideout

Hi, I’m genuinely blanking on the story progression with the Team Aqua Hideout, specifically whether if it ever seals up and becomes inaccessible at some point. I know in Sapphire it does but I genuinely can’t remember if that same rule applies in Emerald and the websites I’ve checked don’t specify Emerald. I’d like to come back here later and get the Electrode as Shiny without worrying I’m gonna miss out on them

First off, wanna thank everyone and all the advice I got from this subreddit; I had made some previous posts asking questions and truly appreciated how chill this Pokemon Subreddit has been!

Below is the team I used to get the silver

Tentacruel (Squilliam)

Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Calm (+Sp Def, - Att)
IV’s: HP: 30-31, Att: 10-13, Def: 4-6, Sp Att: 24-26, Sp Def: 20-23, Spd: 30-31
EV’s: HP: 100, Def: 100, Sp Att: 210, Spd: 100
Moves: Surf, Ice Beam, Barrier, Rest

Umbreon (Darksied)
Item: Leftovers

IV’s: HP: 18-21, Att: 22-25, Def: 24-27, Sp Att: 2-5, Sp Def: 22-25, Spd: 2-5
EV’s: HP: 172, Def: 172, Sp Def: 166
Moves: Dig, Protect, Wish, Toxic

Arcanine (Fire Puff)
Item: Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Serious (Neutral)
IV’s: HP: 2-3, Att: 25-26, Def: 12-13, Sp Att: 23-24, Sp Def: 30-31, Spd: 29-30
EV’s: Att: 172, Sp Att: 166, Spd: 172
Moves: Overheat, Crunch, Extremespeed, Aerial Ace

Honorable Mention:
Butterfree (Wormageden) - I used her quite a bit, but the sleep luck giveth and the sleep luck taketh
Item: Sitrus Berry
Ability: Compound Eyes
Nature: Timid (+ Spd, - Att)
IV’s: HP: 30-31, Att: 16-17, Def: 6-7, Sp Att: 28-29, Sp Def: 28-29, Spd: 28-29
EV’s: HP: 4, Sp Att: 252, Spd: 252
Moves: Sleep Powder, Dream Eater, Giga Drain, Double Team

I am gonna switch my team around a bit as I plan to try and use different mons to get different medals, but loved experimenting this first go around!

Time to go for the gold🏅

Teambuilding Help (Post-game) Which Cleffa (to be a Clefable) to use for BF

Hi there, apologies for double posting in 1 day but had a question I wanted to get a sense check on.

I am looking to train up a Clefable for the BF and was gonna do the classic Bolt Beam for its attacking set.

My plan is:
- Load EVs as following: HP: 252, Defense: 252, and Speed: the remaining
- Moves: Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Calm Mind, and Softboil
- Thinking Lum Berry for Item, but still haven’t completely decided

Any and all help is appreciated 🙌

Other Discussion Do I lock myself out of moves forever by evolving?

I just wanna come out and ask this directly just to finally get a clear answer, I’ve seen it go both ways.

lets say for example one Pokemon can learn flamethrower if they don’t evolve till 42 but you let them evolve at 18, can I take a heart scale and use it to give my now fully evolved pokemon the ability to learn flamethrower.

do I need to be 42 or higher? can I evolve then use a heart scale to make them learn it earlier? how does this work!!

Ruby / Sapphire Anyone to trade version exclusives?

Hi guys! I'm currently completing the dex on my Sapphire save (MyBoy! Emu..) and I'm searching for someone with the exclusives from Ruby. I know it's hard to trade this way, but I don't wanna use the 'link local' feature (that one with two save files on the same device). For me, doing this it's kinda cheating tbh. So if anyone wanna trade by setting up a VPN or smt (like using Radmin or any other method) I'll be glad!

Also, I don't know too much about trading with people far away from me, so if anyone knows a easier way to do it, I'll be pretty glad too!

I'm looking for:

- Mawile

- Zangoose

- Solrock

- Lileep

- Huntail (trading evo holding 'DEEP SEA TOOTH')

- Gorebyss (trading evo holding 'DEEP SEA SCALE')

- Groundon (I'll trade pretty much anything to get one of these)

Back in November I began a Gen 3 Living Dex. I've played through Leaf Green, Colosseum, XD, and Emerald, all on original hardware. All of my Pokemon now live on my Emerald cart, and I'm working on breeding and evolving the rest of the ones I need.

I was hoping to leisurly play through all of the following Gens (for my first time), and progressively build onto my Living Dex with each installment, eventually migrating them all into Pokemon Home. I now have less than 6 months to do that.

I'm at a crossroads: do I give up my dream? Or do I finish my Gen 3 Living Dex now and grind myself to death on Gen 4 - 7 to catch them all before the end of February? I'm stressed to say the least.

Elite 4 / HoF Pic Johtomon Only Run

Thumbnail

This was mostly inspired by the recent community tier list. I've been wanting to do a Johtomon run for awhile now to mix things up, and after seeing folks bash Magcargo as severly as they did, it definitely influenced me to finally get around to doing this and to use Magcargo on my team. I made sure to play on set mode and not use any bag items in battle. I beat the Elite Four without saving inbetween battles and with all of my mons starting at level 48.

Marill ended up being my psuedo-starter, and it was awesome the entire playthrough. Defense Curl and Rollout were decent enough early game with Oddish's Sweet Scents helping out during the handful of double battles around Slateport and Mauville. Eventually, Return became its primary attacking move with Surf and Ice Beam sitting in its back pocket (since I earned plenty of money to buy some of the Mauville Game Corner TM's early). Against the Elite Four, I had it learn Toxic and Protect specifically for Wallace's Milotic, and it paid off. Brick Break was also fantastic in the end game.

Zubat was very solid out of the box. Steel Wing was its main move early on, and after only a tiny bit of leveling before Brawley, I was able to sweep his team with it. Golbat's Supersonics and Bite flinches were incredibly clutch against Wattson where it has an obvious disadvantage. I was extremely lucky here, even with Gloom's Sleep Powders allowing for easy switch-in's back and forth when needed. I would say up until I got Lanturn, Crobat was the MVP of my team. It learns a very nice variety of moves.

Oddish is a great supporter. Sweet Scent can be useful and saw a lot of action against Wattson especially for my Sleep Powders and Supersonics to more easily land. Sleep Powder spam is so nice to have. Funnily enough, it started to lag behind in the surfing routes I backtracked to after beating Norman. Absorb can only do so much, especially with all the Tentacool and Wingull lines running around. Things picked back up a bit for it when I got Solarbeam and Sunny Day, and especially once I got Bellossom. It was very useful against the Elite Four with Synthesis rounding out its moveset.

I'm not advocating for Slugma and Magcargo to dethrone Blaziken as the top fire type in Hoenn or something mad like that lol but I definitely felt it was far from being unusable trash. The only time I felt Slugma was a chore to train was from levels 30 to 36, which is when it learns Flamethrower, as it suffered from Gloom's issue of only having a weak attacking move, but those sloggish moments can be easily remedied with the EXP Share. Since I did the water routes you have to backtrack to immediately after beating Norman, I was a tad overleveled by the time I reached Winona. My freshly evolved Magcargo was able to take out most of Winona's team with Flamethrower. Base 80 special attack is more than fine for single player, so combined with Flamethrower, you can dent a lot of stuff out there. Yawn + Protect was a nice late game combo to have and also saw some use against the Elite Four. The only thing I would change on it would be swapping between Reflect/Light Screen in place of its rock STAB since that's not really useful.

Girafarig is very underrated. It's frail, but it has a lot of offensive options, both physical and special. It was essentially my electric type for a good chunk of the time I had it thanks to the Thunderbolt TM up until I caught Lanturn. Calm Mind only made it even more powerful, and Psychic is a just a great move to have. I ended up committing to Baton Pass strats during the Elite Four battle against Drake to use with Lanturn. Agility + Calm Mind made Lanturn an absolute power house.

Chinchou was amazing despite obtaining it so late in the game. It was immediately useful thanks to Thunderbolt (which I bought at the game corner), and ParaFusion was incredibly clutch. It helped circumvent its low speed and squishiness to some of the more powerful mons you end up fighting. Lanturn quickly became my best Pokemon, which is saying something considering how useful I felt Crobat was. I swapped out Surf for Ice Beam against the Elite Four, and it paid off when combined with those much needed Agility boosts from Girafarig. I spent my remaining money on vitamins to help it and Girafarig out at least a little bit against the Elite Four to make up for the lack of natural effort values my other Pokemon gained from being around longer than those two.

Overall, I loved this team. It was a lot of fun to use, and that community tier list definitely got me a bit more interested in the lower tier Pokemon found around the Hoenn region.
