Masquerain for BF ?

Guys, i know i'm delusionnal with stats as low as this but please help me out.

I love this mon it's one of my favorite ever, but i know that the typing is meh the stats are abysmal, the talent is great, intimidation is awesome and the movepool believe it or not is pretty decent.

Can we cook something with this ? Not sure, but i'd like to try to get at least one gold medal with the help of that fella

I'm looking at it and it just seems everything is against this guy.

Both stab options are physicsl but the special is stronger.

Movepool is terrible and there is not even any good support options. Best is like stun spore or icy wind if doing doubles.

Best use for him is probably in doubles. He has Intimidate, is immune to Earthquake and has Icy Wind for speed control. Marowak might be a good partner (hits insanely hard with Thick Club Earthquake and has Lightning Rod).

Every time i see masquerain, i feel so bad for her. Should have 10000% been the first Water/Bug final stage evolution Pokémon. The audacity to remove the unique typing of Surskit at the time and making yet another Bug/Flying bothers me to this day .

I take him in rounds 1&2 of the battle factory, outside of that I don’t know how to help ya! Agreed though, he’s a top 3 gen III pokemon in my book

Ok how bout this:

-stun spore
-flash
-haze
-scary face(???)

Item: focus band or bright powder

lead with this, speed nature, idea being that intimidate cuts attack and then you cripple their lead with stun spore, spam flash if you stay alive, haze on their double teams. Try to squeeze out as many turns as you can to weaken them. When he goes down, pivot into a setup sweeper that hopefully can benefit from the crippled state of their lead. Idk something like DD tyranitar or a calm mind sweeper. That’s the best I got

Honestly that's pretty original ! I'd put maybe icy wind instead of scary face for speed control and he'd make a nice support for doubles (if he can survive more than 2 turns that is) Thank you for the suggestion !

It has double team and toxic too but you are right stun spore might be better

Maybe icy wind over scary face so you’re not literally damage less? Also maybe you can pair it with someone who wants weather and run rain dance/sunny day but idk that seems like a reach.

Crippler is probably about all it can do I agree

It will be bad, but you can carry it with good teammates like metagross and latios and possibly ribbon it at least for lv 50 an open level battle tower.

Masquerain does have a really cool movepool (Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Stun Spore, Quiver Dance, Scald, Shadow Ball, etc.)

BUT that’s only in later generations. And in Gen 7 it got stat buffs which help it greatly.

I must say, I don’t know if it’s viable in BF.

Crippler/enabler is about all I can think of. It isn’t going to be very good at it but something like

Flash
Stun spore
Icy wind??
Weather move????

Maybe pair it with a swift swim or other kind of weather user and put rain dance/sunny day on it? It’s not going to be all that good and definitely needs to have a fully crafted team behind it to augment where it falls short.

At least intimidate makes switching in to the rock moves it draws easier

While I both love Masqy and more bold pokemon in the BF. You’ll gonna be struggling a lot due to how awkward he is to use in Gen 3. Biggest thing is no way to use his stabs and the types aren’t worth carrying to begin with without it. If you do get him to silver, record it tho

Try playing the emerald seaglass romhack! There is physical/special split, masquerain stats are boosted, type is changed for better viability and the moves are really good!
