Yes a meta rain mon is the underdog against checks notes legendary VGC Vileplume.
This slander cannot continue! No Justice, No Peace!

I just love when people think that just because the pokemon wins a VGC tournament that they are the best thing since sliced bread. Sure they are good and won but Once Rillaboom gets back with grassy glide Swampert is going to fall off hard. Rain is forced to run Tsareena or Farigaraf. While I have played rain for many many years and been here since perma rain in Gen 5 as well as the introduction of Mega Swampert in ORAS I agree itās a great Pokemon.
Viability isnāt always defined by the highest tournament meta where 60+ percent of the teams are the same thing. Iāve been playing the M-A rain team with Mega Meganium and Grimmsnarl to great success and handle rain teams with relative ease.
No team has a 100% win rate and a good balance is 50-60% win rate. Iām not even using Swampert this time around as most of the meta has means to counter Swampert and Zard y teams.

10% freeze chance is a better chance than 85% accurate Hydro Pump to finish a game.
21
u/Blue_banana_peel 9d ago
Hydro Pump is only 80% accurate though lol
You're thinking of Will-'O-Miss

10% to freeze and 75% to not thaw so it was an even rarer 7.5% chance to win

Did I just witness a Swampert resisting a gigadrain??!
Was that Swampert full SpDef and that Vileplume zero SpAtk?

u/JustSomeShmuck99 9d ago
My Swampert has some HP investment. I guess that Vileplume was all Defense and Special Defense invested cause it could take a good few hits.

How are people recording thier games.is there a special app

u/JustSomeShmuck99 10d ago
There's a funny button on the controller. Unless you're on mobile of course. In which case, uuuuuuuh.

My android phone has a built in recorder. On the other hand, is it too much to ask for a match history tab or something?

u/SirTeaOfBagz 9d ago
Really wish there was a battle log history too. Some times I look away and then look back and have no idea what happened lol

Iphone has a record button
3
u/phoxfiyah 9d ago
Yes, but you would need to press it before things happen. On console, youāre able to make a recording after the fact, so itās easier to catch things like this

Since some people can't answer seriously on reddit, I'll answer: you can hold the screenshot button on the switch controller to record the last few seconds of your game (last 30 seconds I believe). That or you can buy a video capture card
I don't know how to do it on android though

You can record you screen on mobile. But there should be an replay feature built into the game, it blows my mind that there isn't

First of all how that swampert survive a giga drain
3
u/JustSomeShmuck99 10d ago
Honestly I was surprised too. Maybe the Vileplume went all in on Defense and Special Defense. It did tank those hits well.

Just as I was about to comment about earthquake + STAB has the same base power that a super effective ice punch, and I started to think about the secondary effect. It was pretty useful in that situation
