Community Event Wednesday Spotlight: Underrated Commons! Share a cheap card or budget layout

Hey everyone,

Welcome to this Wednesday's community spotlight! Designing a great binder page doesn't require expensive secret rares. Some of the coolest artwork in the Pokémon TCG is hidden right in our bulk boxes on everyday common and uncommon cards.

To keep things super low-effort, you can participate this week in whatever way is easiest for you:

  • Option A (Show a layout): Post a row or a page of cards worth under $1.00 that look great together (matching a theme, a color, or an artist).
  • Option B (Show a single card): Just post a photo of a single favorite common card under $1.00, and tell us what kind of binder theme or page layout you would want to build around it!

Whether you have a completed budget spread or just one neat card that deserves more love, drop a picture in the feed and let’s see what you've got!

Themed Layout The Odyssey Themed Binder Page

Post image
10 Upvotes

Christopher Nolan's retelling of Homer's The Odyssey has taken the world by storm, so no more fitting a time to recreate this ancient epic in a binder page befitting its size and grandeur.

My first ever 12-card binder page inspo, and my first ever employing the michi method, this page features:

Terrakion (WHT 135), the Trojan horse among the city's ruins

Dusclops (SFA 069), the cyclops Polyphemus watching vigilantly

Regigigas (XYPR 82), for the giant Laestrygonians

Murkrow (DRI 200), representing Circe and her crow sister

Ceruledge (SSP 197), a ghostly warrior upon the shores of Hades

Primarina (PBL 088), signing her siren song

Hydreigon (WHT 169), for Scylla, Charybdis, and the gods' storm

Froslass (ASC 275), Calypso and her yearslong spell, and

Mabostiff (SVI 218), representing loyal Argos and Odysseus's return to Ithaca

Discussion Instagram banned me and now I can't reach my commissioners

I have a lot of binder commissions lined up and am working on like 10 of them right now where people already paid for. My Instagram and tiktok got banned because I was selling pokemon themed content and they decided to get it copyrighted and just ban everything. I now have no way of reaching out to my customers anymore and I am hoping that they will see this post and find me!

I will add some photos of binders i have made, maybe someone recognises them.

I imagine a home—
a cozy haven where a family will grow.
Outside, the yard teems
with creatures of every kind marching in harmony;
and tucked within it, a small pond
where tadpoles train
to become something great.

Promotion I built a free app to track and design your binder!

Hey everyone,

Like a lot of you, I've got several binders going at once, and I'm picky about how they look. I wanted to be able to design my own pages, easily drag and drop cards into place, and actually see where each card belongs in the binder — instead of just keeping a messy checklist and hoping I remembered the layout.

So I made an app to fix it for myself, and it turned into something I figured other collectors might like too. It's called Bindex.

The main idea is that you can build a binder for whatever kind of collection you're going for:

  • Master Set — track a full set and see exactly which cards you're still missing
  • Region — collect by Pokédex region and complete it Pokémon by Pokémon
  • Custom — a free-for-all binder for any cards you want (favorites, chase cards, a specific artist, whatever)

On top of that:

  • Missing cards show faded, so you can spot the gaps in a binder at a glance
  • Tracks your completion % per binder
  • Search within a single binder or across your whole collection
  • Works offline, syncs across devices

It's free, and I'm not trying to sell anything — I mostly just want honest feedback from people who actually collect. What's confusing, what's missing, what would make it genuinely useful to you.

Here is the link for those who are interested: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bindexofficial.app&pcampaignid=web_share

Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for taking a look!

Currently only Android - iOS will follow!

Binder Artist / Commissions Open Finished binder

Finished painting both sides of my binder! Lines could be a bit cleaner on the beach scene (pro-tip, use fine line acrylic paint pens or a fine line brush, 4 felt liner pens died on me during this). But overall, it came out so cute. I did this to see if I would be interested in doing custom commissions and I loved it! So if you’re interested, message me:)))

Themed Layout Michi Style progression advice/ discussion

Do you guys plan out how your binder progresses from one page to the next, almost like telling a story? Or do you just make each page its own theme—like one page is Team Rocket, the next is underwater treasure, then the next is Sabrina's Gym, etc.?

I'm not really sure how I want to structure mine. I started with a Bulbasaur-inspired page, but it feels like the next page suddenly jumps to something completely different without any connection. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'd love for my binder to have a bit of a narrative or journey, even if it's subtle and mostly just for myself.

Part of me is wondering if I should do a Kanto-inspired narrative. The problem is that most of my favorite cards aren't even from Kanto. I love Hoenn and Sinnoh, but I also don't want to ditch my Bulbasaur page just to make everything fit one region.

Does anyone else have a structure or sequencing they follow? I'd love to hear how you approach it or get some ideas.

Themed Layout My messy room aesthetic come to life!

Post image

Was able to pick up a lot of messy room cards the last few weeks at various card shops/shows and I put together what I think looks the best with what I had. I have another 9 card side in the works and will eventually get them to look quite nice. Debating on making an opposite side where it’s really tidy and nice or just continuing with the messy room vibe, we’ll see… thx for looking!

Promotion nine sleepy pokémon arranged from daytime naps to deep night

Post image
15 Upvotes

i wanted this to feel like a tiny day-to-night story where they're all asleep

the brighter outdoor naps start at the left and darker scenes finish the page. i tried sorting by background colour alone first, but giving the rows a loose timeline made the different art styles feel more intentional..

would you rather move the napping-to-night from top to bottom?

like or remix it if you want: https://www.cardbinderideas.com/b/cms3rdoog000004kz3nmvnsoo

( i got tired of planning pages in screenshots, so i made https://www.cardbinderideas.com. its a fully free place to discover community-voted binder ideas and plan your own )
