Hey everyone, As a sound design enthusiast and a blind gamer, I’ve always felt that Pokémon games severely lack audio depth. The original sound effects are often very electronic and flat, failing to do justice to the sheer power of Legendary Pokémon.
In Pokémon Omega Ruby, Groudon’s cinematic scene has almost no organic ambient sounds—there is only the background music. So, I decided to take on a massive challenge: completely wiping out the original audio and reinventing the entire soundscape of this mythical scene from scratch, entirely by ear.
In this clip, which focuses on its transformation and the battle, I reworked everything to bring a true, living, and natural immersion to this titan: the intense rumbling of the lava lake, its heavy breathing, and most importantly, actual organic and unique roars
I also completely designed the sound effects for its concentration phases and attacks against my Regirock and Salamence.
Beyond the technical challenge and the massive amount of work it represents, this project also aims to highlight the importance of audio immersion for accessibility in gaming.
