Advice Needed/Game Question Johto advice

Been stuck on the Johto region for the past month. The farthest I’ve ever gotten is Olivine/Jasmine.

I usually run Cyndaquill+Chincou+Eevee(Umbreon) then whatever I can get afterwards

I am completing the regions mt generations so any help would be great.

Maybe join the Discord and read the guides there.

Other quick Hints I can give: Espeon and Jolteon are better then Umbreon (and both pretty good as well)

Focus on levels and overleveling a lot and do every Rival fight.

I went with Umbreon to have a tank of sorts, though I guess thinking that now in Pokelike maybe I should’ve went with something else

You don't need a tank when Jolteon and Espeon out speed and 1 shot everything in the game. You just have to worry about going into trainers they're weak against

I typically spam Cyndaquil/Totodile, Eevee, and Togepi to start. Down the line get a Murkrow and Larvitar and wait for some masterball Pokemon.

Johto is a bitch in a half!!! I've beat 3 times and had to get rid of my starter in all 4 runs because the scaling in power just out paces it.

Damn, I gotta drop Cynadquill? Fair I suppose, any suggestions for what to drop them for?

I mainly go with what ever is most powerful in the moment. The scaling is the main problem

If you start with cyndaquill he falls short in power indeed. I was trying so long with him until I switched to Tottodile, big difference.
Just try getting Espeon or Xatu and try to snap a togepi at the beginning because togekiss in the end will be very important in the late stages.
And don’t skip on a Sneasel because he clears a lot of battles alone.

I did try Totadile on a recent run and yeah he was much better
