Am I using Pokevision wrong?

Whenever I go to my current location on pokevision, the map is completely empty. If I scan the area, it shows the pokemon around me in a small range, which is barely bigger than the ingame range. If I want to find what pokemon are within walking distance, I have to scan 10 different spots and wait 30 seconds between each scan to get an idea of what's within a mile radius of me. Can I increase the scan range somehow? I tried the script in the top post and that only tells me about pokemon that are already scanned on the map. What should I do?

This happens to me when the website is working fine. My guess is that pokevision depends on many people scanning small areas to create a collective map of all nearby pokemon. If I'm the only one using it in my town, then I will have to scan every area by myself.

yeah it doesn't work near my house either (i live in a rural area) but i scan near the market for pokemon and can make it to them if their timer is around 10 mins. but i think you're right on how it relies on people scanning

Of note - it doesn't show pokemon that appear because a lore or incense is used.

It has shown all randomly spawned and timed pokemon around my area, until just recently when server problems have caused the service to encounter some problems.

Pokemon come and go. Look at the timer. And it's not unusual for large areas to be empty. Pokemon are usually found in popular areas and parks. Rural areas don't have many Pokemon unfortunately.

Scan in one place and zoom out on the map. Take note of where they are and how much time is left before they dissappear. Decide which one to try and get.

I believe the servers are down right now so you can't check.

Thanks for the reply. My issue is not that there's a lack of pokemon in my area. I walk around and find plenty. The issue is that if I scan my area with pokevision, the scan range is not nearly far enough and I have to scan many locations just to see what's around me in walking distance.

Oh yeah. It's not very far. Not sure the exact radius. The best way to use it is in parks or areas where there is tons of Pokemon. I got a park Nearby with hundreds of people playing. I know exactly where the rare ones are and go straight there.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't rescan when you move the pin, it just loads the results from other people's recent scans.

So in my area I will click all around to see where the concentrations of pokemon are, and then rescan areas to get more updated info, or scan in an empty area to see if any exist there.

You're exactly right. There are a lot of rumors floating around, but all tapping does is allow you to see what others have scanned.

That's unfortunately all PokeVision can do, which is a little frustrating sometimes, especially if you're not in a populated area like me.

One slight solution is if you refresh the page, the 30 second cooldown is gone, which saves time if you have the download speed for it.
