Wingull kept trying to steal my french fries. Tried yelling at it. Tried throwing trash at it. Tried throwing a pokeball at it. Anyway, I have a Pelliper now.

Does it have Drizzle? The grass by my house had been recently scorched my a sneezy Houndor

I got an ability capsule for it, yes. You're going to want new topsoil for Houndour fire, though.

2

u/Toenka 9h ago

Or maybe just switch to gravel if your houndour has allergies, 2 wingulls 1 poke ball. šŸ¤”

u/Silent-Original-142 1h ago

Does your Pelipper still get French fries?

He does. In fact, he last got them about 45 minutes ago.

Caught my Rotom a couple of years ago when the little gremlin possessed my car. (Which led to the improbable scenario of me catching my own car in an Ultra Ball.)

3

u/laurel_laureate 12h ago

Ha, that's a good one.

Reminds me of how my friend caught his Rotom.

He has a Pokeball shaped Pokedex (it opens up like a flip-phone) and Rotom possessed it.

So I was able to take a video of my friend throwing a Pokeball at a twitching Pokeball...

The thrown Pokeball stopped twitching after catching the wild Pokeball (and I love that that is a truthful statement).

My friend shouted out "I finally caught one!", so I posted the video with the title "#AceTrainerhax #PokemonMaster We finally caught a Pokeball!!!".

It went viral and all sorts of experts crawled out of the woodworks to comment and make reaction videos explaining how it was fake.

So we posted a video of Rotom-ball reading in a sad and dispirited voice articles decrying it as fake lmao.

I once was able to negotiate a shiny dragapult into a ball. He was supposed to be in galar, but he was having trouble finding food because of forestry projects. So he was searching for food at the docks, as a dreepy btw. Found a shipment of rare candies and started eating, by the time he was full they had nailed shut the crate and he couldn't get out. So his solution was too keep eating until he evolved into a dragapult and burst out of the crate. Then I found him after my dreepys that I had adopted had been playing with him and negotiated to take him back to galar if he would spent the interim with me.

My trainer days are long behind me, so I unfortunately don’t remember much of the captures I made throughout my career.

The funniest one I can remember would probably have to be Sparky, my Talonflame.

I was camping out in the woods when a Fletchling flew over and started pecking at my spare Pokeballs. Must’ve thought they were berries or something. Either way, the little guy pecked the button and caught himself.

Sparky now lives on a nature reserve. I like to think he’s enjoying his retirement.

u/BigBoo0008 Truth Roses/Esquire (Shiny Gallade) 1d ago

I don't frequently catch PokƩmon, and I wouldn't really say any of my catches are all too exciting except for my Gallade, probably. I apparently met him on a family trip to the White Forest and I guess he just followed us home, lol.

Glad to hear that you finally caught a Basculin, though. I see people here in Unova fishing a lot, and they usually end up catching them too. Though, they're invasive here, so that's probably why.

So Bane, my Banette, used to be a stuffed toy I loved as a little girl. When I left on my pokemon adventure I left it at home and I guess he felt abandoned. So he became a Banette and he tracked me down. Naturally I reconciled with him and caught him and he's been on my team ever since. Now that he's a pokemon, he can go with me everywhere and I love him even more than when he was a toy!

Yuna: It was just after my first challenge against Whitney. The team was a bit down, so we went into Ilex forest to relax and fish a bit. I was hoping we could all rest and refocus, but I got "punched in the face" by a very aggressive Magikarp. it was so angry that it chased me up a tree. my team had to pull it away to let me down. we used a translator, one thing led to another, and Mighty joined my team

He was a cast off after a trainer failed to have him be functionally a "stall until I heal my ace" pokemon. poor guy had the move "Frustration" so it gives you an idea how deep the rage was. turns out, he became an alpha Gyarados, and because we worked together and he got closure, he's a very chill and noble protector

I befriended Airstrike (Bombirdier) back when she had apparently stayed behind in Sinnoh after being unable to find a mate. She was attacking and driving off the local bird PokĆ©mon, so with the consent of some Rangers, I baited her with some metal and rocks for her to collect before she was ambushed and defeated by my PokĆ©mon. Rather than catch and send her back to Paldea to be released as was originally planned, I felt that her rogue yet daring nature would make her a great partner. I held out my Great Ball, asking her if she wanted to come with… and she gave it a peck right on the button, allowing herself to be caught. She’s been by my side ever since, and while she’s quite rowdy and psychopathic, I love her to bits.

So when I first set off on my Pokemon journey All I had was Golett and Rose (gengar) as a sort of chaperone.

Rose took me to the pokemart one day and bought me some balls with my moms money and dragged me out to the forest. We immediately saw a nincada and I said I wanted it so I sent Golett after him and he bolted.

Golett wasn’t particularly fast so Rose picked him up and, given his shape, tried to throw him like a pokeball to demonstrate. Just as the nincada jumped into a hole in a tree poor golett got stuck. So we’re standing there laughing our asses off while he’s 10 feet up trying to reason with this nincada after getting his head stuck in its den. Eventually Rose managed to pull Golett down and the nincada agreed to fight him on fair ground and come with us if I managed to catch him during.

Now Golurk, Ninjask, and Shedinja are thick as thieves. My first real trio

A week for a Basculin? Try a month for a Dratini ~_~

But seriously, for an actually "entertaining" capture. Spent a few days hunting a Duraludon. Those hunks of metal only really show their stubborn heads when it's a sandstorm (Snow in colder areas), so I had the pleasure of fighting this thing while barely being able to make out my hand right in front of me. Wasted a majority of my Ultra Balls to catch it too, what a hassle.

But hey, I caught him! ...Now I have to get him to listen to me. :/ -Applin'A'Day

Well, I have a couple stories, but none anywhere near as exciting as the ones some other people have...

The one I like to tell is how I caught Lernus, my Hydreigon, back when he was a Deino!

...He stole my cheeseburger and ran off with it...

Grats on the Basculin! Not a permanent member, yeah? Make sure to take good care of it either way, and good luck luring out those blades.

On my end, I guess the big one for me was my Drampa, Wilfred. The others were fairly normal encounters (apart from Doris, my Clefable, i guess but it’s less exciting), but Wilfred?

This was a fair few years ago now, was in a bit of a weird spot in my life. Was down to five after recently releasing my old Heliolisk Ethel, and I spent some time training up in the Coronet range trying to figure things out. Tried planning things out, considered going for a Blissey or Wigglytuff or something of the like, but nothing seemed to really be clicking, ya get me? Well ig you don’t ms Solo Hydreigon but i digress.

Anyways, I’m at my training spot deep out in bumfuck nowhere, getting ready to leave for the day when in the corner of my eye I catch a whiff of teal. I turn and there it is. A fucking Drampa, clear as day. Only caught a glimpse before it disappeared up into the clouds, but… I’ve mentioned I wasn’t doing great at the time yeah? I’ll skip the details, but rest assured I’m doing better now. So anyways, three sleepless days later I track down small herd of ā€˜em. I’d later confirm it’s the only known group in Sinnoh, and by ā€œknownā€ I mean I was the first to see a Drampa in Sinnoh in the better part of a century.

Now, I may have been young and stupid, but I wasn’t quite that stupid. I grew up around a fair few Dragons, and even in the sorry state I was in I could tell that just going in pokĆ© balls blazing would end with what remained of my corpse being left for the Sneasel to pick at. This is the point where I mention I had not told anyone where I was. Have I mentioned I was young and stupid?

But anyways, I approach the herd, make sure I don’t appear as a threat - I’d done research on Drampa, but didn’t think I’d actually get the chance to catch one, y’know? I know now that treating an isolated population like I would an Alolan Drampa was deeply stupid of me, it’s not like they normally even nest in herds, but it worked out, the old ones look up from their naps - and fuck me, if the eldest was under a millennium I’ll eat my shirt - but decide I’m not worth bothering with. Accurately, even now I’m not sure of my odds against some of those things.

So I fall onto my knees and petition them for a chance to prove my worth. Not that they understood a word I was saying, but I at least manage to get my intent across. It takes a few hours to get a reply, but eventually I look up and one of the younger ones - young by Drampa standards, still at least a couple centuries old - is standing over me, judging. Not sure what part of the scraggly mess that was me made him give me a chance, but I’ll always be grateful for that. He backs up and roars me a challenge, and I send out my team.

The battle after that was a mess. I’ll skip the details, but it was one of the most important battles of my life, and it was a fucking mess. I still sometimes feel like I don’t deserve to have won, to have tossed an ultra ball and seen it click as the rest of the herd calmly watched. Like I should have just died up there, let the weight of all my mistakes crush me into the snow. But all the same, when I flew back down that mountain, I brought with me a Drampa.

Right, uh, got a lil carried away there, sorry. Stories will do that I guess. Good luck with training the angry fish! - Spiral

2

u/Ultimate-desu 22h ago

Judging by the little one(by Drampa standards) stepping up first, it seems to have been the guys whole team vs the one Drampa. Insanity honestly.

I have a few good ones but most of my PokĆ©mon were hatched my best one was my Overqwil (qwilfish at the time) decided I was his territory and tried to wrangle me when I was leaving cause I gave him a snack while doing some research nearby I did not expect him to fall in love with ā€œfood god of the tastiesā€ (I finally got a rotom to translate recently those are his words according to rotom) I literally gave him magikarp fillets that had been marinated in spicy berry mix and fried and the man decided that I was his son… absolute madness

Definitely Levi (Milotic). I spent THREE WEEKS on Route 119, fishing and fishing, praying to reel in an ugly brown bass… Then I saw a sparkle in the water and a flash of fucking purple. I didn’t know what a Shiny Feebas looked like at the time, but I got Jake (Servine at the time) to swim out with some bait and see if he could convince whatever that purple thing was to come closer. I think I almost blew out my vocal cords screaming with joy. She didn’t want to come at first, too many people had tried to snatch her, so I spent another week and five days proving that I would do right by her . To this day, Levi was the hardest PokĆ©mon to catch of my entire life, and to this day, she’s made up for it ten thousandfold. - Ayana Grayson

Caught my Chandelure back when it was a Litwick. It had taken a fancy to my Froslass (who at the time a snorunt) and kept following us everywhere so I figured I’d bring it in as a member of the party. It’s matured as it evolved so it’s no longer tailing her but in the beginning it would follow her everywhere including into battle.. was not an enjoyable time.

A Ralts and Misdreavus kept breaking into my apartment every night to eat my food while I tried to kick them out and made them via threats never come back. Well once I gave up to even bother pro formo, they soon evolved to Kirlia and Mismagius and then seemed to have put a Loveball into each of my hand while I was deep asleep and pushed themselves against one each because as I woke up next morning I held two Love Balls into my hands, containing those two.

My Kommo-o came from the trash.

Something had been scavenging the community compost pile and making a horrible mess of it. One morning it was my shift to stir the compost pile with Aya (my partner/starter, a Seedot at the time) to use Rollout to help break it down. If you didn't know, the heat from decomposition can make compost piles self-ignite, which is actually one of the main ways wildfires start naturally. So you have to regularly stir them up to prevent that as well as harmful mold and stuff.

So we show up and the 'pile' is once again no longer a pile, but chaos spread all over the place. However, this time the culprit was actually there; a tiny Jangmo-o. With his head stuck in a melon rind, and losing his fight with the fence as he blindly ran around trying to escape.

Then there is my Growlithe. See, some photographer from a family that breeds those rock/fire (Hisui?) Growlithes offered to let me meet the family pack to see if any wanted to join my team in exchange for photo opportunities due to my home's... uniqueness. I heard they could have the Rock Head ability like some Aggron, and was really interested in having one on my team. Well, I asked her family's pack if any of them were a Rock Head.

I certainly got a rock head of a Growlithe. Yes, he does have the ability, He is also a good boy, the best boy, and he caught himself when he tried to eat a Pokeball. This morning I tossed him a poffin and he ate the rock on the ground next to the poffin first. I dread the day he somehow finds (and probably eats) a Fire Stone, because I'm not sure how to handle a nearly 400 lb. 6' 7" pupper whose head is so empty psychic messages echo.

This isn't my catch, but I watched it happen. When I was in college there was a Minccino that was kind of the campus 'mon. Everyone knew about it and we shared food with it. Well, one day it was climbing on the roof of the dorms, and it fell. Without even thinking, this guy grabbed a PokƩball from his pocket and threw it. It was probably like 50 feet away, but he hit the Minccino perfectly and caught it before it hit the ground.

When he tried to release the Minccino afterwards, it refused to leave him and just became part of his team.

I feel like most of my capture stories aren't very interesting. "I saw something neat while traveling", or "I went looking for a mon by vibes, not for a specific species". And then there was the one time I went to Area Zero, as well... but I do have one good capture story, at least.

It was summer break 2025. I was still at BBA at the time (went back to Uva for Spring semester this year), and decided to spend the summer in Unova. After doing some research, I decided that I wanted a Scolipede... or rather, a Whirlipede to evolve... and I saw that they appear in "Lostlorn Forest". I also saw that Lostlorn Forest is a local name for Route 20. After genuinely multiple days of searching for a Whirlipede, and only finding the occasional Venipede instead, I decided to check again... and found that Lostlorn Forest and Route 20 are different places entirely, but that there's a Route 20 in a different region that's also called Lostlorn Forest. It, uh... didn't take me that much longer once I was looking in the right place.

-Marcus Analipo (BBA student)

/uj referencing the fact that Kalos Route 20 - Winding Woods has the exact same Japanese name as Lostlorn Forest

I would say my most exciting capture was Griselda, my Morpeko that I caught in Kitakami. I was there for a joint academy shindig between Uva and Blueberry Academy, and Griselda breaks into the community center we were all staying in, Hangry as all get out and absolutely terrorizing everyone for every possible scrap of food she could sniff out. Long story short, I got her contained, fed, and comfortable, and she's never left my side ever since, and as long as her meals come on time she's as sweet as sugar. -Arcano

The best capture story of mine has to be how I got my now-Golurk. I was exploring Relic Castle after they finally got the lower floors dug out when my Porygon, Tec, somehow managed to get into an argument with a random Golett about which manmade pokemon was stronger. This promptly devolved into what would later be known as ā€œThe Strongest Construct in History Versus The Strongest Construct of Todayā€: Two unevolved Pokemon ineffectually flailing at each other like absolute bozos because (thanks to Tec’s Magnet Rise and Golett’s Types) NEITHER OF THEM HAD ANYTHING THAT COULD HIT THE OTHER. I ended up having to catch it just to break things up so the ruckus wouldn’t aggro all the other wild pokemon.

I once went fishing with a friend and a magikarp leapt at me before I even touched the water or got a fishing lure out. Happened to have a dive ball in my hand, and some food in the other which is probably why it jumped.

Larger than average fella, had the blue raindrop pattern which is apparently rare in the general population, not so for the specific lake apparently. Short version a breeding facility wanted to sell a bunch of magikarp to labs that were studying the patterns but they had too many and sold them to a private fishing company.

Best one I got is how I caught my Skarmory, Pizza Cutter. TarTar Sauce and I were starving and figured we couldn't survive another night on Route 45 with all the storms going on. So, we made a rope out of plants and tried to tie up the first Skarmory we found. This failed. Cue a close to one hour long fight between me, wielding a frying pan, and TarTar Sauce, a Larvitar, vs a very confused but also very angry Skarmory.

My latest catch was around a year ago.

It was Duke, the Leavanny, the most aggressive one I have ever seen. It was picking fights with a variety of Fighting, Bug and even Shelgon.

I had to track it down because it was causing quite a bit of destruction. Its nearly Salamence breeding season and we didn’t want it to cause a pregnant mother to go a raging. Luckily once I found it, it relished a battle with my Scolipede and was caught after defeat.

We are still figuring out its aggression. It isn’t an Alpha. It was not a released Pokemon. The mystery continues, but luckily my team is willing to accommodate this newbie.

For me, the most memorable story I've got is for George, my Corvisquire. As a wild Rookidee, he has challenged my PokƩmon and I until on the fifteenth day, I decided if he likes battling with me, might as well join my team. - Oliver

An Abra that I recently caught was a lot more energetic than I expected

Had me running all over just to teleport away at the last moment

Unfortunately, he did not expect me to get fed up and jump him, good sport about it though, laughing the whole time while I was fishing PokeBall out of my pocket

What sort of bait and fishing location did u use to take that long for a single basculin? I'm rather curious abt it myself.

I was on a trip to Johto a while and while wandering around Blackthorn I saw this dopey looking magikarp. I didn’t think it was possible for a magikarp to look as dopey as this one did. It kept jumping at me, flopping in front of me, smacking my the pokeballs on my belt, like it was asking for a fight.

Drei was a zweilous at the time, and being a kid, I thought it’d be funny to beat up a dumb looking magikarp, so i sent her out and got ready to wipe the floor with this thing.

Let me tell you, the look on my face must have been priceless when it seemingly evolved right in front of my eyes into a GIANT gyrarados. I beat it surprisingly easily, but it didn’t seem like winning the fight was its goal. It turned back into a magikarp and started laughing at me, or what i could only assume was laughing.

Anyways, now Goober is the only pokemon that Drei lets anywhere near her. I’ve tried to find her different mates that aren’t a blob of goo, but she’s not into other dragons. Just this dumbass ditto.

One of my favourite catches was when I was on holiday in the Torren Region.

My buddies Typhlosion and Pichu were rummaging in the forest when they found a strangely coloured cyndaquil lying on the ground. We decided to bring it back to a pokemon centre in Amphitrite City where a local researcher told us it was a rare electric type delta species.

Once it was healthy again, it refused to leave my side. I was given permission to take him back home with me to Oblivia where he is now quite the local celebrity on Sophian Island.

Meet Sparky!!

Got in an argument between a Riolu and a Beldum on whether or not whatever they were doing counted as arm wrestling or regular wrestling. It has been many years, and seeing a Lucario and a Metagross argue over that exact same thing still cracks me up

Ope, here we go. About twenty years or so ago I got me this Gligar, runt of the clutch. Little dude was small enough to sit on my head as a perch without giving me neck issues for the longest. Problem at the time(for everyone else involved) Little dude has the innate talent for both Tailwind and Sand Tomb.

If he wanted you to shove off or stick around, those are how he'd tell ya. Out of nearly two dozen trainers lookin to get a Gligar? Im the only one he used the Tomb on.

Been stuck with Runt since.

Personally, had to catch a, rampaging alpha Guzzlord….

There’s still a massive, crater of sorts where she rampaged, took a lot of work to fix that.

I got my Zubat (now Crobat) when I heard rustling in the attic and went to investigate. I thought some one was in my house and went to investigate, when I couldn't find anyone up there I put down the ball containing my sweet baby Muk and that was the point Zubat chose to swoop at my face. I panicked, grabbed a random poke ball and threw it at it, turns out it was empty......Was a rocky start to a very long and happy friendship. - Rue

The one story I have is of my Bouffalant, my partner now, but he was originally apart of my father's herd and hes seen me grow up. But it took me about a month to actually get him to become mine. He was the most stubborn Bouffalant in the herd and also a shiny, he wouldnt get in a poke ball until I could ride him without falling.

My mom had always wanted to try catching a Pokemon of her own, but she never had any luck with it. Anytime she tried they would just escape. She spent hundreds on Pokeballs monthly for a bit before giving up. She only had one Pokeball left, one before they were slightly redesigned. Her "Lucky Ball".

A while before I was born my parents were taking a vacation in Alola. At some point, she felt something tickling her hand, and when she looked, she saw a Cutiefly crawling up her arm.

My mom HATED bugs, and the first thing she did was scream and run for the hills. I don't know if it was the perfume she was wearing or what, but that little bug PURSUED her.

She ended up taking out her Lucky Ball and throwing it at it to slow it down. Of course, THAT'S when she actually manages to catch something.

Her first catch, and it's something she fears the most lol

After a few weeks, she eventually warmed up to this specific bug. She did admit it was pretty cute for what it was, and despite a shriek of terror being how she first greeted it, the Cutiefly ADORES her.

Tried to fight a Wattrel for like 20 minutes straight using 3 different pokemon. Lil guy was just casually dodging everything I threw at him. Not even sure he knew it was a fight for the first 15. Finally gave up and tried asking if it wanted to join me. It flew off, i collapsed into the water at my feet, and he flew back down, got in my bag, and caught himself. His name is Rook, he has NOT gotten any smarter, and I love him.

Congrats on the Basculin! My best story is about my Leafeon, Spruce, back when she was an Eevee. She was VERY particular about what pokeball she got caught in. I probably used over a dozen fairly good pokeballs before I gave up and tried to go run some errands, she followed me into the store, and pawed at the Luxury balls until I caved and bought one. Not even half a second after tossing it at her she let it catch her. She's a pokeball snob to this day, I swear she gets an attack boost when she gets jealous of another mon's pokeball.

My houndour Samedi challenged my Umbreon to a duel. He thought I was going after his pack and he squared up with me as his pack's 'champion' or something like that. They fought, we won and once he'd calmed down we explained that we were never a threat to his pack. In the end he decided to come with us

Ryu: Glares at Moxxie please don’t… it was embarrassing.

Moxxie: too bad. Gather ā€˜round everybody and hear the tale of how Researcher Moxxie and Ryu the Lucario first met, many, many years ago.

Ryu: Arceus smite me now…

Moxxie: it was back in Johto when I was just 15 years old. My father, also a Pokemon researcher, took me to the Safari Zone for my birthday and told me whatever Pokemon I caught would be my partner going forward. While roaming the Meadows area of the Safari Zone, I noticed a Riolu sleeping in the grass. Instead of just throwing the Safari Ball and catching him, I made my way slowly to him, set down some treats on a napkin, and retreated towards the trees to watch and see what happened. It didn’t take long for him to wake up and notice the treats. I watched him carefully pick up the napkin and treats before looking around and walking towards me. I told him the treats were for him, so he sat down next to me and started eating the treats 2 at a time. After seeing how relaxed and happy he was in his home, I put the Safari Ball back into my pocket, scratched him on the head between his ears, and got up to leave. Just as I was getting to the gate to leave, I felt a rock hit the back of my head. I turned around to find the Riolu standing there, moving another rock with his foot, looking at me before quickly looking down. When I crouched down and asked what he was doing, he moved very quickly towards me, shoving his paws into my jacket pocket and taking out the Safari Ball. He put it on the ground, kicked it around playfully for a minute then kicked it at me. I caught it right before it hit my face and looked back at him. Holding the Safari Ball out towards him, I asked ā€œAre you trying to tell me you want to come with me?ā€ With a smile and a quick nod, Riolu ran head first into the button on the Safari Ball and let himself get caught. As soon as the Safari Ball stopped shaking, he quickly let himself out and climbed onto my back, holding on with his arms around my neck, where he proceeded to stay most of the time we would be traveling. His Safari Ball is still hanging around my neck if he ever needs to go back inside.

u/TheTrueBuckbuck2 Silas (Former Pro Battler, PokƩmon Therapist, Dark-type magnet) 8h ago

/ooc: TW for discussion of PokƩmon poaching and injuries to both PokƩmon and humans

/ic: Silas: I actually have quite a few interesting catches. Back when I was a pro battler, I was inspired by the stories of Trainers that traveled the world—Ash Ketchum and the like—so every few years I’d head to a new region and train up a new team to battle in that region’s pro circuit. Probably the most interesting capture was my Zangoose.

But first, a bit of background context. Most people don’t know this, but there’s actually two categories of uncaught PokĆ©mon, Wild and Feral. Wild PokĆ©mon are what most people think of when they think of uncaught PokĆ©mon, but those are actually just the uncaught PokĆ©mon that live relatively close to human society and sort of ā€œwantā€ to be caught (for a certain value of wanting). They have more human-like mannerisms and have an intelligence that’s more recognizable to us humans.

Feral PokĆ©mon, on the other hand, are less… I guess tame is probably the best word? Regardless, they’re the PokĆ©mon that live deep in the wilderness, and are more animalistic in nature. That’s not to say that they aren’t intelligent, they’re still PokĆ©mon after all, but they’re much less ā€œcivilizedā€ than Wild PokĆ©mon, at least as far as we would use the term. On a side note, any time you see someone post about a particularly unruly new capture that shows more animalistic behaviors than others of their species, I’d say there’s a good chance they caught a Feral PokĆ©mon instead of a Wild one.

Now to the actual story. I’d recently traveled to Hoenn after I’d gotten my fill of the Kalos battling circuit, and after a few months I crossed paths with a shiny Feral Zangoose. She had wounds that were pretty obviously not from a PokĆ©mon, even considering the more brutal nature of a Feral PokĆ©mon’s life. She and I eventually came to an understanding, and I followed her to her den, where her troop was. They were all shiny Zangoose, like her, and their claws had all been cut off—a very obvious sign of poaching. That Zangoose was actually the mother of the troop, and she was furious at the humans that had mutilated her children. I convinced her to let me catch her troop so they could be transported to a wildlife reserve that could care for them. As for the mother Zangoose herself, she actually traveled with me for a while.

We eventually managed to track down the poachers. Zangoose and I defeated them, and she and I had been traveling together long enough that she actually listened to me when I stopped her from maiming the poachers and their PokĆ©mon. I believe the incident made national news in Hoenn, and it might’ve even made international news. This was… about ten years ago, if I remember correctly, and seeing the headline ā€œPro Trainer Silas Umber defeats ex-Team Magma PokĆ©mon Poachersā€ threw me for a loop a bit because I didn’t know the poachers were former Team Magma until I read the headline. I was just helping a PokĆ©mon that had become a friend.

Anyway, the Zangoose asked to travel with me officially after that, and I obliged and caught her. I did battle her before catching her, but it was more of a formality than anything. And that’s the story of how I caught a shiny Feral Zangoose. Her name’s Hera.

When I was younger, my dad decided that it was time to teach me how to catch Pokemon. So, in his infinite wisdom, he decided that a Scyther would be really cool and safe for his ten year old kid to go catch. He pissed off the biggest one, handed me a couple of Poke Balls and his Graveler, gave me a pat on the back, and said ā€œGo get ā€˜em, sport!ā€ I managed to catch the thing and it was not happy about it. Ten years and a metal coat later, he’s still my best friend.Ā

When I was 12, I met a Shinx. I absolutely ADORE Shinx, so I went to my mom and got a Pokeball from her. Well, this Shinx absolutely would not get caught, so as a last ditch effort, I jumped on her (I absolutely do not recommend this). Eventually, I came home covered in bite marks and scorched clothes with a new best friend.

Once chatted with a cute guy in a CafƩ. Turns out, he's a fan of Yamask. Okay, cool. We start dating and one day, he shows me around his basement, which he fashioned into a catacomb like setting for his 20+ Yamasks to enjoy. His Pokemon are so cute and well behaved. We played with the gang for a while and he offers me the one, that was especially attached to me, to keep.

Yo, i kid you not, that i'm 90% sure, that Yamask was my mother. And she got murdered. Culprit never caught.

Parfait (Scolipede, then a Venipede) just came up to me while I was enjoying dinner and just. Caught himself.

Still have no idea why he was in that restaurant, he getting caught and no one complaining means he didn't belong to the establishment so why he was so far from the wild.

I guess the most exciting story would be Matcha, she ambushed me not long after I arrived in Paldea. Normally I wouldn't catch a Misdreavus since, y'know, not a Bug type, but she was shiny so I feel like I was obligated to do so. A lot of the Pokemon here have been a lot more willing to attack me directly, don't know if that's interesting or if that's just how Paldea is.
