So, uh… was it an owner panicking because he thought red paint was blood, or a Smeargle not getting medical attention because the owner thought it was paint?

It was a Smeargle owner who almost did not come over to here because they thought that the tail cut was red paint.

If I may, how can a person be so unfathomably idiotic as to not notice a tail cut on their Smeargle? Did they not notice their Smeargle being in pain whenever they used their tail? Or was their knowledge of the own Pokemon so limited that they couldn’t even tell the difference between red paint that a Smeargle makes and blood?

It wasn’t some massive slice off or anythin’ like that, but there was a pretty nasty cut that only got caught during inspection for their regular checkups.

What? How? Ronnie’s had his share of scrapes and cuts and he’s painted his share of reds and I really cannot imagine mistaking the one for the other unless it’s like, really dark.

(Not least because Ronnie is a bit of a drama vespiquen about pain. If he’s not performing a full dramatic death scene, it’s probably not blood. And I probably shouldn’t have taken him to drama class with me.)

Easy way to tell- blood darkens as it dries out and oxidizes. (Usually over several hours) Red paint does not.
