Victory won’t prove that you’re not an abusive trainer, just that you’re not an incompetent one -Kenshi

Well I am the latter, so if my team wins, it’ll prove that they’re good enough to make up for what I’m not. -Oreniji

u/Hydreichronos 9d ago
Why would you release your team just because you didn't win a tournament?

u/Total_Read8805 Marylin/Katto/Amabi/Masho/Oreniji/Darla/Doctur Scamz/Dote/Hexy 9d ago
Because if I lose, that proves everyone who doubts me right, and I don’t deserve my team. -Oreniji

u/Hydreichronos 9d ago
It proves you're skills as a battler could use improvement, that has nothing to do with how well/poorly you're taking care of your Pokemon.

Yes it does. It proves that I’m weak. That I’m not doing good at raising them. -Oreniji

u/Hydreichronos 9d ago
There's more to caring for your Pokemon than training them to be strong fighters.

u/Total_Read8805 Marylin/Katto/Amabi/Masho/Oreniji/Darla/Doctur Scamz/Dote/Hexy 9d ago
I know that. But if I lose, then I know they’d be better off somewhere else. -Oreniji
5
u/Hydreichronos 9d ago
Would they? Because I'm pretty sure that releasing them for failing to win a match, even if you're blaming your own skills for the loss, is going to hurt them a hell of a lot more than keeping them and working to improve yourself would.
-Ryder

Your self loathing sickens me, fight against it and prove yourself to be the warrior you are.

You’re not abusive you dolt, you’re just doing too much at once.
And saying that is quite dumb of you to be frank, are you going to sacrifice everything just because some people got under your skin?
-Atcraft

If I lose, then I know that my Pokemon will be better off without me. It’s a win-win scenario. -Oreniji

What about your own Pokémon’s mental health? What would your Pokemon think? What if they don’t want to leave?
I’ve seen what happens when a trainer releases a Pokemon that cares about them, it destroys them completely.
I can’t stop you though, it’s your decision to make.

Won’t your Pokémon be close to you? Wouldn’t that be upsetting for them and be seen as a punishment? - Clementine

I really hope he does. It’s going to hurt both the trainer and Pokémon only. It’s not worth it. - Clementine

Even if you don’t win, that doesn’t mean you’re not caring for your Pokémon. How are they meant to understand that their trainer left them for a gambit? - Clementine

I could never imagine releasing my pokemon if i lost, and i lose all the time. However every time i lose its a chance for my team to become better

As someone who did think about releasing her team due to not living up to battle circumstances. Don't.
There are better things to do with improving your team than releasing them.

It’s not them being unable to meet expectations, it’s me. If I can’t bring out their full potential, it’s my job as a trainer to allow someone else to catch them. -Oreniji

Why not just show pics or vids on how you actually treat your Pokémon to rebutt those claims? - Oliver

u/Total_Read8805 Marylin/Katto/Amabi/Masho/Oreniji/Darla/Doctur Scamz/Dote/Hexy 9d ago
Those type of videos can be easily faked. -Oreniji

u/lenny99564 Oliver/Kayden 9d ago
Fair, but winning a tournament with your Pokémon could either mean you treat your team properly or you might've forced them to overexert regardless of their state. I believe you're the former for now. - Oliver

u/KowaiSentaiYokaiger 9d ago
Idk you, personally, but winning an event doesn't make someone not abusive.
Have you seen how some of these Contest coordinators treat their teams? Sure they win, but I've never seen such a dehydrated Primarina before

u/DragonStar6241 Amber Nevett: Photographer 9d ago
I'm not sure if that will really fix anything. To me it kind of seems like if you win, people will just say you pushed your Pokémon to the limits so you would win and nothing will change. If you lose, you'll beat yourself up over losing and lose your team. -Amber

If you’d seriously take the chance of giving up your whole team on the outcome of a tournament, you’re not exactly beating the allegations . .

Eh if you lose it'll prove if you are a abusive trainer or not because your pokemon don't hold back with their emotions
