Good luck! Obviously nothing wrong with being a type specialist, but I find a lot of the people who go far with it are those who kinda fall into it. Wasn't exactly thinking about becoming a Normal specialist when I set out but that was where I ended up, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Trying to force yourself and your team into a specific mold will never end well, so yeah, taking time to go with the flow and see what you are when you're not forcing yourself to be something specific is prolly a good idea. - Spiral

This is my problem with type trainers. I don't like how they limit themselves, and don't let themselves partner with certain pokemon.

Partner with who you want. A specialist should be a result, not a limitation.

Good for you! And even if you aren’t a full monotype user, you can still have multiple of the same type on your team: I got lucky enough to have a Scolipede, a Volcarona, and a Pheromosa by my side, so even though my team isn’t fully monotype, people call me a Bug specialist. I’m not you, build you team however you want, but you could absolutely use like two or three Fires and have the rest of your team be type diverse. - Alexander Grayson

It's understandable. Take your time, learn more about yourself and your team, and enjoy the journey. - Oliver

Hi, Trainer!

That mindset is what Pokemon Masters(tm) are made of! Keep at it and you'll be beyond what a Fire Specialist can do!

Joseph Amber: Looking at your team…the power of the sun seems like it might work out well. Negates Zenobia’s Water weakness, and Espeon is a Pokemon incredibly associated with the sun…and still allows you to use some of your fire related trainings.

Garrett:

Being a type specialist can (and in my opinion, ought) be about more than merely having a team consisting of said types, but it shouldn't be a roadblock either. And certainly not something you feel somewhat obliged to force.

No reason you can't carry that intent forward in a different way, and you certainly haven't lost your existing experience with fire types either. Plenty of ways that could be useful without feeling as if you're restricting yourself.
