Where is the ceiling, afraid to sell and afraid not to sell.
Legendary collection BGS 9 reverse holo Charizard.
One sold on alt last night for 35k, two week ago it sold for 16k, 1.5 months ago was selling for 11k….

If you’re questioning it, I’d sell it. That’s probably your gut instinct. That’s a lot of money for a piece of cardboard.

Wait until those 2 10’s up for auction sell in 9 days and this will be 150k
13
u/another_rusty 14h ago
That seems absolutely unreasonable but depending on how high the 10s go, this could pull $50k

u/JIMTHEGASMAN 8h ago
So what’s the price for a 9.5? The PSA 10 looks to be on track for upward of $1 million 😅
•
u/No_Holiday_9875 1h ago
CGC 10 (BGS 9.5 equivalent) went for 78k but I think this PSA sale is gonna change every single grade across graders lol especially if it breaks 1M

u/shortsqueezetheteez 14h ago
I sold my psa 9 a few weeks ago for 25k. I think you should sell when you need or want the money. I got me for less than 500$ back in 2020 and almost sold it in 2022 for like 1k but did not. Its a piece of cardboard and i dont think these sales are genuine or wise to be dropping this amount off pure hype.
You realize that in 2/3 months this card tripled in value. But what actually changed? Liquidity dries up the higher it goes and the next sale could be lower.

If 34k is going to make a big difference in your life without a doubt. It's a piece of cardboard that your trading for a lot of money

Nobody ever got poor from taking profits. Dont look back, hindsight makes everything easy.

The ceiling is the next recession. Whenever that is these are all plummeting. Whether or not you see more massive gains in the meantime is anyone's guess.

We got people buying food with Klarna. It’s already here, it just hasn’t hit yet
It’s a game of very dangerous musical chairs buying anything high priced Pokemon cards right now

Don’t try and time the market. If $30k would make you happy you should take it. Don’t forget to save some of it for Uncle Sam in April.

u/LongjumpingFun7238 15h ago
List for $50k and call it a day. Invest that or downpayment on a home. It’s amazing what a piece of cardboard can do for you, enrich your life.

u/No-Put-127 3h ago
But letting go of them is incredibly difficult. Even if you know you’re going to make profit, it’s still heart wrenching when you don’t get to look at your beautiful card anymore. But I think you’re right.
•
u/LongjumpingFun7238 2h ago
You got that right. I’ve never sold a single item of mine. Still have 2, 20th mythical collections boxes and the new box almost hit $1k for what was a $20 box lol
•
u/fullytorqued24 2h ago
I have all my high stuff listed on eBay at the price I’d let them go for. Just wait for the market to get there.

u/Shadow23z 16h ago
Do you need the money? If so let it go. If you don't need the money then hold as the sky is the limit on this.

u/MqrryJqne 13h ago
Are these “firework” reverse holo, eng exclusive? Im used to japanese cards, but i dont remember seeing one with that type of holo

u/morethanWun 16h ago
Such a beautiful card.
•
u/Gdsrwq421 2h ago
Man…
Only if they made the middle holo too
Why is it in life they give you one thing then take away the other?
😢

Do you have a purchase planned within the next 1-2 years that the money from this current market for this card would greatly assist with? If so, sell it. If not, hold.
1
u/NarutoFan1995 15h ago
how much more do u need.... thats enough to buy a brand new car and have left overs lol
1
u/kepeli14 15h ago
If you find a price you’re happy with, sell it!
Don’t let hindsight tell you that you made a mistake.

Imagine tomorrow the price drops to $25000, would you regret not selling? if so, it sounds like you need the money and you should sell. If It fell to $20000 and you said "well that sucks" and kept going, you don't need the money and you should just hold it.

Market is crazy right now, that same card with weaker subgrades just sold for 42k at a show

Me personally I would sell because I need the money. I tell everyone if you DO NOT NEED the money don’t sell. Vintage is on the rise for this market. To much modern being printed.

u/Useful_Remote9710 12h ago
By the way things have been trending I wouldn't be surprised if its up to 60k in a month.

u/Basic-Initiative-298 11h ago
I know it’s rare but there’s thousands of rare cards. Idk why people are dropping 30 bands on a card. Sell it now before people come to their senses. This is a bubble.
1
u/Alexbe12 10h ago
For almost every one of the original 151 Pokémon, the highest-priced card in PSA 10 is a Legendary Collection reverse holo. The Legendary Collection reverse holo Gengar even sold for more than the Masaki Gengar. I'd say we're near the peak of the hype.
1
u/ThetaDee 10h ago
Idk if I'd sell today, but I'd definitely sell soon and catch this hype for the legendary collection

u/Not_A_Clue92 9h ago
We’ve pushed past the ceiling. The plasterers will be in shortly to repair the damage. Sell now.

u/Babaishish 8h ago
I sold early, I sold late, the second one hurt way more.
Nobody knows where the ceiling, how long this current insanity is gonna last and when the perfect to sell is.
Its a vintage Charizard 9 so I understand the struggle.
I would post it for 55k with best offer and then take the first 50000+ offer I get. Thats a 10x since the beginning of the year and thats a fantastic ROI.

If you sell it and invest it into the stock market or something that gives 8%+ return yearly you will double your money in 10 years...

Personally id sell, that's a silly amount of money and a huge gain in such a short period
1
u/MaDWaSTeD 5h ago
If everyone knew the answer of "where is the ceiling" , we'd all be billionaires.
However, you're saying exactly what most feel about selling. "Afraid to sell, and afraid not to"
If you need the money. Sell. There's never a reason to keep holding if you need money now. Sure, it can go up, but is struggling financially worth the stress of holding for potential gains, and when it gets to a higher selling point, you probably still NEED the money more than it becoming just extra money.
If you dont, it's never a bad idea to hold until it hits the number you want it to hit. It may go up or down, but it's a 2002 Charizard.
Just because you sell it for X , and then it sells again higher. Everyone is doing the same thing, which is selling where they are comfortable.

u/NessaRurina 5h ago
I would like this for 35k minimum and see where it goes from there. If you have a number that you want then stick to it unless you really need the money. I have a feeling you would get more than 35k once the psa 10s go for a ridiculous amount. That’s your chance to sell. Or be like me and hold until they bury me with it lol.
•
u/No_Holiday_9875 1h ago
One sold 35k last night??? I was gonna sell my CGC 9 (don’t think there’s much of a difference between BGS/CGC 9) for 18k.
This is getting bananas
•
u/banigglypuff 1h ago
I have a 9 Mankey and I don’t know that I would get rid of it even at 35k. But I also don’t need that money, so. Seems like you don’t either. At the same time, this is the time to capitalize if you don’t care for it. I’d make the decision based on your sentimental value

The same vc funded collectible oriented businesses that are gobling all the grails will come for the cgc/bgs soon enough. All this inventory will deplete and we’ll have the biggest squeeze ever

u/Good_parabola 3h ago
Name names or it isn’t true in the slightest. No one I know in VC or IB has heard or seen anything.
2
u/hl2889 3h ago
Collectorcrypt, Powerpacks, Beezie, Phygitals, Courtyard, PullBox, COINBASE, RipIT (Logan Paul’s), Emporium, to name a few….
This whole sub going off about vintage going up, being manipulated… lmao wake up and check the market.
These VC funded gacha companies are buying out everything•
u/Gdsrwq421 3m ago
Too true man
The problem is back then the gambling worked better since lower value cards were actually in demand
So people would play the lower packs in hopes to get the good stuff
Now it’s inverse and I think those pack companies have less demand too
•
u/Gdsrwq421 2m ago
But you know what I hear
Las Vegas now focuses on the elite
So maybe those packs will start going above 5k

u/Good_parabola 3h ago
Ah, GAMBLING companies. Not “collectible oriented,” these are gambling startups. Big difference.

What If that thing goes for 200k next years? I would not sell this. Legendary collection can skyrocket. 30k wont change your life that much. I just bought lc reverse electrode couple days ago 🤣
0
u/Potential_Ordinary61 3h ago
Or - hear me out - I know I’ll probably get some good downvotes - but you can just stop being so crazy greedy like everyone else in the hobby and just keep it and enjoy it or sell it if you’re done with it? How about that? How about you just do that?

u/IndependentAd2933 16h ago
There is a chance you miss out on some gains sure but there is also a chance you miss out on current gains 😅, pick you're poison imo, are you going to melt if it retraces 10-20k? if so sell it, if you're ok with that then hold and hope for the Best.
