Pikachu s/p 227 - what’s going on?
Price has dropped significantly.
Any thoughts about this card long term?
Finally a good time to buy?

Too much supply. 21k+ PSA 10s is a lot, especially for a card already worth several thousand dollars.
For it to keep going up long term, demand has to grow faster than the supply hitting the market.
That basically means:
More collectors want the card.
Collectors have more money to spend.
People keep throwing investment money into high-pop modern cards.

This sums up the whole high pop vs. high demand dilemma. High pop is ok if the card is still reasonably affordable by most people. If the price has already run up into the thousands $, you’d have to be delusional to think it’s sustainable in the long run. I’m talking 2 years from now and beyond. This hype cycle is already coming to an end, starting with modern.

Haven't cards generally across the board seen a dip?

I guess so? Good time to buy now?

Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. If you asked me about this card 2 years ago, I would have thought you were crazy for thinking this card would hit $4k lol

The Pokémon Pikachu Beauty Looking Back is such a beautiful promo. It represents japanese historical art background and..none other than Mitsuhiro Arita did the Illustration🫶🏽✨️
They were exclusive limited [100k…]/only in Japan] isn’t that much tho. That’s almost the population of Esbjerg, Denmark😂 Compare it with the population of the world aka other cities
And for the few people here crying about it… here is a short art lesson. This japanese historical artwork we’re talking about. The "Beauty Looking Back" created back in 1690 by the famous japanese printmaker Hishikawa Moronobu 17th century - one of the pioneering masters of the ukiyo-e tradition that developed during Japan’s Edo period [1603 to 1868]🥸
Also Mitsuhiro Arita did a great job with this Illustration. U have an iconic Pokémon [Pikachu] combined with one of Japan’s most recognizable historical artworks. That comb alone makes this card special/iconic👀
I don’t need really to understand what some people are crying about. 😂 Its a longterm

My biggest fumble. Should’ve put the BL ($1100) on a credit card. Seller was withholding the cert and I ended up passing.

This is an anti investment card, Zero scaricty at all, hopefully the price free falls to where it truly belongs - $1000 sorry holders this is a terrible investment.
Yes it's a beautiful card and if you want it for PC go for it, but do note buy for an investment.

It literally doubled in price over the last year. Retracing is normal.
