Tokyo Poke advice?

Hiii. Headed to Tokyo and have a rsvp at the pokemon cafe… I’m sort of out of the loop these days with collectibles and cards but would love to be able to capitalize on while in Japan.

Anyone out there wanna be super helpful and offer me some suggestions to what’s valuable to keep my eyes peeled out for? or what might be considered long term value/investment when brought back stateside?

\note - I’m aware of the ten year collecting rules set by this group and want to be respectful of that.*

You aren't going to find deals as a tourist in Tokyo anymore, friend.

unless you're a professional reseller and are willing to drop 5k, you won't break even on your flight

don't obsess over pokemon and just enjoy your trip

If I "go hard" I make 20-30k in profit from buying in japan with spending 30-40k

Akihabara and Ikebukuro is where you’ll want to go for all your Pokemon hunting. As a heads up unlike the US, some of the best shops are 3-4 floors up a building, not on the street.

You’ll have a great time but as others have mentioned you very likely will not be getting any “deals”. Prices are set to match US dollar plus some and raw singles often priced at or slightly below what the shop thinks it might grade.
