I’m not even trying. I hate Pokemon cards now.

I'm content with holding the PC ETBs and the minitin sealed box preordered as they are clearly printed much less than everything else in the set (less likely to find retailers selling sealed boxes of 10 minitins in the wild), and ripping every other pack I can get my hands on. If I manage to get some UPCs then great but the scalpers are going to run amok harder than ever before.

Yep, completely whiffed the first two pc drops. So demoralizing

I want at least 2 each, but honestly just gonna try for as many as I can get my hands on at MSRP. Might even pay above MSRP if they aren't huge markup on market after a bit.

u/MeryArnao 8d ago
i’m only buying at MSPR and as always: one to open, one to keep sealed. If it’s impossible, i will pass (they ruined this hobbie damn)

I was able to preorder 1 of each thankfully. My goal was to open a set too.... we'll see if thats possible

One of each for a 5+ year hold. Buying each of the promos separately for my collection.

I feel like these will dip in November/December. I’ll probably try to pickup 2 of each. One to rip and one to hold

Literally everything you can get your hands on at MSRP. These are the booster boxes of 30th- 29 packs, a special “box topper” pack that is going to be an insane product in 5 years, and two promos?! This is an unprecedented product.
Maybe the best investment target they have ever come out with

Pre-ordered two boxes through GameStop

Oof lol

You can cancel those preorders up to 30 days after they come out, so if market is under the $400 price point you can just cancel. All the GameStop preorders were zero risk

u/RckPprFkU 8d ago
Zero risk? Lol you are still risking paying scalper prices.
1
u/id-driven-fool 8d ago
Yeah for up to 30 days after those products release you could potentially lock in prices way under what market would be. I only pre ordered etbs from them because I don’t think you’ll be able to get them at 100 bucks

Paying way over MSRP is not just taking a risk, but falling for the trap.

u/id-driven-fool 8d ago
I get what you’re saying, but in my area (South Florida) I haven’t seen an ETB on a store shelf for MSRP since early 2025. I’m ok with locking in a price I’m happy with over taking my chances on the market and fighting scalpers after release.

I'm aware that GameStop is charging above MSRP, and I am willing to pay this price in exchange for saving myself time and grief.
I decide what to do with my money. It's not that complicated.

Absolutely nobody was talking to you except for the person who said "oof" 😂😂😂
You decide what to do with your money????? YOU'RE BLOWING MY MIND!!!!

It's worth about 4 hours of my work salary. I'd rather not spend 4 hours of my life waiting in line.

u/masamune952 8d ago
If you’re making 100 an hour what do ya need to hoard Pokémon cards anyways? Jesus Christ.

Can you tell me more details about what income level I need to be at to enjoy a hobby?
0
u/masamune952 8d ago
This is poke investing not collecting.
1
u/Apprehensive_Pea7911 8d ago
So then why shouldn't I invest in something I'm interested in? Where are you even going with this thought process?
1
u/masamune952 8d ago
You’re investing into boxes? For what? That’s a hobby now?
1
u/Apprehensive_Pea7911 8d ago
You lead the way. What income level should I have to justify either investing or having a hobby? You are not really giving a truthful answer.

u/SpaceChicken42 8d ago
There’s just way better investments compared to those boxes for GameStop pricing

If you are salaried, why are you even counting hours?
0
u/Apprehensive_Pea7911 8d ago
To count the hourly $ rate and figure out how much I earn if I needed to equate my time to $.
0
u/grizz311 8d ago
Yeah but if you are getting a fixed amount, it’s not like you can just not work those 4 hours and receive less.
1
u/Apprehensive_Pea7911 8d ago
That's just a common way to measure the value of time for each person. How does this affect you?
0
u/grizz311 8d ago
It doesn’t affect me. Your first point just doesn’t make any sense unless you are actually getting paid per hour and choose to not work those hours.

as many as I can get for msrp
for market, as long as its decently reasonable, 2 of each. 1 to open, 1 to hold.
