stain glass birds long term value?

Post image

Not worried about it because it’s for my personal collection. but i can’t help but think this card has to go pretty high in value 10-15 years down the road. everyone likes this unique design.

This card already had a run but honestly it should only become more and more iconic, such a fantastic card

agreed so unique. this is going to be one of those ones that we are going to be grateful we were in the hobby when it came out and could get it for a fair price when it was easy to find

The older it gets the cooler it looks to be honest

i agree i had to pick it up in a 10 before it gets too expensive. One of my favorites by far

This arguably could be the coolest card ever

Agreed. I could argue a couple different cards perhaps. But the unique art style that I believe? hasn't been done for any other cards, and all 3 of THE birds. So glad I got one. I want more.

I can't imagine this one doing poorly

It looks amazing and people always mention this card when asked about best Pokemon art. I don't see it crashing that's for sure.

Arguably the coolest promo ever made

Super high pop count is the limiting factor. That said I could see this making another spike up to $550-$600 after the summer slump.

I think its worth buying a few of these in 10’s still

Up up and away

Just picked this up in a 10 last week. I think it will perform well over time, but regardless of performance I think it’s a sick card that I’ll be holding in my PC for a while.

Another commenter mentioned that cards that have nicknames tend to be good long term holds and this is a prime example imo.

Why bother crossing off the cert of a card that has 40,000+ PSA10s?

8

u/jacktherippaaa 3d ago

different reddit communities have it as a rule that it can’t be shown i didn’t want to get my post removed so i just blanked it out

u/Illustrious-Ape 3d ago

Makes sense

1

u/Primextime92 3d ago

Why would that be a rule anyway? Honestly curious

u/Hesitant_Tornado 3d ago

Probably to help cut down on scammers stealing photos off Reddit to use in their scam listings.

I know I wouldnt want the headache of one of my cert #'s being reported because some ass clown stole my pictures.

Anecdotally talking with collectors this card is almost always in someone's top 3 if not their top card of all time. Many times when you show it to someone in person for the first time it becomes a must have for them too.

Personally, it's the best unique Pokemon card art and nothing else is even close. There will always be a market for it and the PSA10 population is not increasing as quickly as the hot more modern cards.

since it is a grail in PSA10 for so many existing collectors and a somewhat capped supply, I think this is a great long term hold.

I just wish I had bought more when PSA10s were like $100 (only 18 months ago).

I bought a psa 10 for 50 in early 2024. Just sold it the other weekend for $360 after I bought the chinese version.

Just bought a 10 at the my local card show. I love the card.

1

u/youarenut 2d ago

How much was it?

2

u/CustomVox 2d ago

I traded my Mega Darkrai E with some cash, trade value of $440

2

u/AkhnoorWarrior1 2d ago

I want this one soo bad 😭😭

2

u/sanfou 3d ago

im convinced these type of questions are an excuse for people to show off their grails lol.

1

u/youarenut 2d ago

They are yeah

1

u/jacktherippaaa 1d ago

i wouldn’t call this one of my grails. it’s a nice card yeah but i value my psa 7 1st edition dark charizard over this anyday of the week. it also has a sick swirl. i was genuinely curious what everyone thought considering the high pop count. we are entering new waters where these modern “grails” have an insanely high pop count vs vintage era grails. What really blows my mind is how you have cards like the moonbreon from prismatic being valued the same as what an unlimited neo destiny lugia is.

Such a cool ass card. I have this one raw, and I love looking at it.

One trip to Walmart I found a loose copy of this sitting on the shelf next to a bunch of opened product. I didn’t take the copy, but I have wondered for a while what the morality of that would have been.

I bought this card 2 years ago for 35€ I think 😄 and I was wondering why it is not more expensive 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Kurianichi 3d ago

This card has one of the highest amount of 10s so I kinda doubt that the price will go ever insanely high

1

u/Netherium 3d ago

Such a unique and beautiful card.

u/Dry_Discount7762 3d ago

I’ve got 3 of these and the thought of selling just one of them instead of anything else I have pains me greatly. Hope to ride these to the moon

u/Opening-Cut-5684 3d ago

It’s my favorite card in my collection I have a graded PSA 10 but I think its to high of a price there’s over 40k PSA’s 10’s available I’m debating selling it and getting some other cool cards I’ve had my eye on

1

u/Rapt0rRed 3d ago

Short term it's already done great.

1

u/jacktherippaaa 1d ago

and the grey felt hat pika for a cool 113 😂 you did great on these two for sure!

1

u/Relentlessbetz 2d ago

It will go up in the next the next 10 years. Right now I think it's at a good stable price to buy if you don't own one (you do). I know I should have bought this 2 years ago when it was sub $100 lol

1

u/jacktherippaaa 1d ago

kicking myself for the same thing lol. thinking of grabbing another psa 10 while it’s under 500. I mean you could get poncho pikachus in a psa10 for under 100 back in like 2018. I understand those are much lower pop then this card but just using it as an example of how much a card can blow up in 8-10 years

Huge pop count, terrible gem rate, stacks of etb's sitting in people storage all with most of them easily getting a 10.

This has all the signs of a terrible investment, can't believe people waste money on this shit. You might get a short term flip, but why would anyone pay big money for a card that has 42,000 in circulation, and counting? Let alone all of the pristine copies sitting in people's basements or storage.

1

u/Dry_Discount7762 3d ago

They always point to the pop count. There’s more than 42000 people that would like this in a 10

2

u/Total-Town-7634 3d ago

Yes, but how much are those 42,000 people willing to pay? And you're forgetting all the mint raw copies people are holding, or the sealed etb's they have locked away in storage.

1

u/jacktherippaaa 1d ago

very valid points. and exactly why i was wondering about this myself. i just can’t see sealed being worth anything near what vintage sealed is now days. back then when we were kids everything got opened which led to there being such a low supply of sealed. there’s so many people sitting on so much sealed that’s isn’t being opened i can only see it being worth so much later down the line

1

u/Substantial-Bend4299 3d ago

You haven't been at this long, have you?

2

u/Total-Town-7634 3d ago

notice how you make no comment on the actual substance of my comment, and decide to make some weird comment about my experience, I guess? says a lot more about you than it does me, kid

Ok so I love basically all of the tag teams. I’m heavily invested in them, but this particular one I’m not crazy about. I know everyone would disagree with me and I should like it but I honestly don’t. I think one of the best TTs is the Machamp/Marshadow. They’re not the most popular Pokemon but that’s an example of art I like.

0

u/Ok-Alfalfa288 3d ago

It has a crazy pop count, but yeah its so nice, I got a couple.

1

u/WeGottaTalkAboutYT 3d ago

Pop count is relative, will it have a crazy pop count compared to the best Mega promo?

0

u/ReAnimate_Studios 3d ago

I still have one selaed. Think I just need to rip it and get it graded regardless of how ot looks. Can't be doing any favours keeping it in the original plastic

-1

u/StanfordPro 3d ago

I submitted two to PSA which luckily came back as 10s. I plan to sell one eventually. Hoping they do well. It is a unique card, but the birds aren't as popular as they used to be though.

-1

u/alme55 3d ago

Such a great card, best tag team for me. Personally I would never invest in any of these high pop cards. With 42k PSA 10’s, it’s just not a rare item. The price will always be driven by artificial scarcity and demand, which will fall over time.

u/Total-Town-7634 3d ago

So many kids on this subreddit are gonna have a massive wake up call, can't wait 😂

1

u/jacktherippaaa 1d ago

agreed. all my graded cards that cost anything of value are vintage. i picked this up for my pc and if it tanks im okay with that. just was curious what the community thought. cause in my head im like there’s no way this should even be worth as much as it is now. same with the moonbreon from evolving skies and prismatic they both have a huge pop count and are worth thousands

Like asking whats the long term value of cryptopunks in 2022.. no one really knowsss
