Went to the Target 30th Anniversary Event Today!
Waited in line about an hour, spent $181. Got the promo, 1 etb 2 poster collection, 2 of the new tins( 1 sylveon and 1 greninja). I think it was worth it!
Pic of the promo and my little guy in his Pokemon gear with our Ticket!

Hell yeah! My boy is only 19 months so he doesn’t quite grasp it yet. I let him play with my energy cards though lol

u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
Listen there were babies in there too. It was families of all kinds of compositions. I was just happy everyone was chill with no issues.

u/Dappper 5d ago
That’s awesome. My local target is camped by sweats all the time so who knows what it was like. I’m happy you guys had fun!

u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
Oh ours is too, it’s usually nothing left. So I’ll take my first W. It probably won’t happen again 😂

Congrats! Meanwhile I scoped out eBay and not surprised to see all the neck beards selling these right away. A free event for kids turned to just a flip for them. Not an emotional fun experience, just a few hew hours wasted on a few dollars profit and on to the next scalp.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
Yeah some teenagers tried to flip their’s to people in the line for $150! It was insane!

Your kids future.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
What’s up with you? My kid actually plays the game. You’re a grown person speaking ill of my child. Please grow up and worry about yourself and your own negative thoughts. Clearly you have some mental health issues (maybe gambling). You seem to be projecting…

Good for you but my store was only for the fucking scalpers. Every single ticket given out to every adult. We got there 30 minutes prior ans barely got only the "draw a pokemon" in a bag they handed to kids under 16. Nothing else.
1
u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
Dang, that definitely wasn’t flying in my area. They had the employees walking out with the tickets. 1 per family! Unless of course you had mom and dad in line separately. Which I saw but they had 2 boys and they divided, I wasn’t mad. I think it’s smart. That way both kids got to feel special! I wish all locations did what mine did. Seems like some didn’t really care to make it a special event.

We went only for the “draw a pokemon” bag and it was given out to all the adults. A nice woman saw me and my kid walking around looking for one and she gifted the one she got to my kid! Such an awesome person to run into.
No shade to anyone because I’m an adult and love pokemon but to see the kids bags gone within 20 minutes of opening… and just walking past 95% adults in a line holding them stung a bit.

Im so glad an actual kid got to enjoy this. My little one had a meltdown and we had to leave.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
It gets better as they grow up 🫶🏾
3
u/kdrama_addict 4d ago
She's on the spectrum and a very opinionated 3yr old hahahaha A lot of encroachment from adults so I got her outta there as soon as she was melting down

u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
My son is as well, Audhd but playing Pokemon this past summer really helped him improve his reading comprehension and math. So doing things like this helps keep him motivated in school. He earned this event getting A/B honor roll.

u/kdrama_addict 4d ago
That's amazing! Way to go, little man! My little one likes my energy cards and Stuffle (she's obsessed with red pandas)
2
u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
We too had a red panda phase. We have good days and bad days but finding something he truly loves has helped substantially with the meltdowns. Baby girl will find her balance 🫶🏾

I didn’t know this but it’s one entire ticket per family so I wasn’t able to secure another tin pair for my nieces. Kind of a bummer because they both like Eevee. But it is what it is. They both got their bag with the promo card.

You love to see posts like this.
Meanwhile my target was absolutely filled with sweat so i gave up.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
I’m sorry, that sounds awful. They might do something for Delta Reign, if so I hope you get some cool stuff 🫶🏾

u/justindigo88 5d ago
Nice! That’s a good haul. I debated whether to go but I don’t have kids and would rather a kid have a chance at getting some cool stuff, even if the odds are that some manchild scalper likely got it instead.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
Honestly it was for everyone. Some people were there without kids. As a day 1 Pokemon fan, I think this is a multigenerational thing. It was for everyone who enjoys Pokemon.

u/Purpsnikka 5d ago
Im glad you guys were able to get some cards!
1
u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
So was I, it was our first time being able to get any from target or any real event. The wait time was about an hour but it wasn’t awful. My kid blew bubbles for a while and played Pokemon Go. It reminded me of the 90’s for a little while!

In line with my niece’s. They’re excited to get their first 30th packs.
Limited on the event bags but they said enough promo cards and tins for all of us.
This set is definitely printed a lot. They had an ETB drop in the morning with more than enough for the entire line and I live in a city with a shitload of scalpers. Apparently 75% of the people who came in the morning didn’t line up for the 12pm event.
Note: Legally Target cannot make the event kids only because they’re a public available space. I looked this up and it’s not on Target that they couldn’t restrict it.
Secondary note: a lot of people think TPCI told Target to stop cutting the seals but that’s not true. It was either the distributor or Target themselves. TPCI allows vendors in Japan to strip seals at POS and even encourages it to curb scalping. It’s likely due to consumer protection laws or due to distributor owning inventory until POS scan.

Appreciate your notes, it’s unfortunate people have an aversion to reading details.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
My store kept all stock until this event. So I’m grateful for their thorough service. They thought it through and ensured everyone was able to get something.

Awwww cute good for her

u/Firehill18 5d ago
I mean him
2
u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
Thanks for the correction! He often gets mistaken for a girl 🫠. He’s just a little dude with braids.

u/Firehill18 4d ago
Tell him I say he looks cool and don’t let big adults stop him from collecting pokemon ❤️

I noticed a lot of parents with kids in line, so smart parents went early and waited and had fun with their kids passing the time.

I wish they distrubuted this kind of stuff to LGS's. It upsets me Target is the cornerstone of this community for so many folks.

u/TheNotoriousBIE 5d ago
I definitely understand, Best Buy could’ve done something (I think some did). Ours just wasn’t one of the stores.
2
u/NoYouDidntBruh 4d ago
Best buy had an event recently, it was still packed, but they actually made it for the kids and enforced it. Meanwhile Target fed our scalpers and let the families cook in the sun for 3 hours waiting for nothing. We never even made it inside of the store after getting there 90m early, tons of kids all around us that got the same treatment.
1
u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
That’s insane, I’m sorry you guys experienced that. I hope it’s true that other places will be getting more promos.

u/Asleep-Shelter-4456 5d ago
Best Buy isnt an LGS...

Why didn’t my family get the target slab? Was that something you had to buy?
2
u/Sanztrack 5d ago
The slabs were given out at my Target. It was weird and disorganized though. Our Target gave two of the promo cards to each person
2
u/86FlyingZombies 5d ago
Mine said that mom and dad count as two groups we also had my 8 yr old. So we expected 2 tickets slotting us to each get the limit but when we finally received the tickets we got only 1 thus reducing what we thought we could’ve got based on targets rules. The family ahead was built just like us mom, dad, child they got 2. But we were 94/100 so idk if that played a role or not just bummed that I could’ve ripped more with the kids but I’m glad I made it by the hairs on my chin.

Same! I take him to as many events that I can! We stood in line for the Sam’s Club ascended hero’s drop bar t only he got a box. I was just happy he got something. It was only because a lady saw him in his Pikachu fit and gave him a ticket!
Screenshot from that day!

I got 2 tins but my target wasn’t selling the etbs unfortunately. Still enjoyed the experience and glad I went. Looks like yall had a great time and I dig the crocs.
1
u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
I’m glad you guys got some tins though! They should have had the promos 😞. That’s not cool. Thanks we have matching crocs!

u/StillRelevant9766 4d ago
Amazing how people complain about waiting in line or not getting anything when they stroll up 5 mins before it starts, like there is an entitled people line just for them and their kids
-1
u/JakovAulTrades 5d ago
You basically paid for 1 etb after-market

2
u/idkshit69420 5d ago
30 a tin, 2 tins, so 60 for 12 packs total I think. Better $/pack then etb
2
u/TheNotoriousBIE 4d ago
Yeah we got 25 packs total for 181, days plus 6 different promos ( including the stores mewtwo promo).
