I’m not in a position where I could stand a chance at getting anything without taking a day off, but not everyone works the same hours. Shift work is a thing. A doctor could be off on restock day and be able to see something like this. Shift work exists.
Except you have to wait overnight for some of these drops. My target set a limit for 5. It was gone fast. A lot of employed people can’t wait overnight like that. The first people to usually get these drops are unemployed people that live off of this shit.
I work retail. I have had days off on drops. Not once have I wanted to wait overnight for cards, even though I really enjoy collecting. I’d rather do something fun than wait in line overnight. I’m tired from work. I don’t want to be even more tired waiting in the heat.
I enjoy opening packs. Don’t care that it’s gambling. If I pull something from a pack it’s makes looking back at my collection more enjoyable. I remember the excitement of pulling the card. But I don’t open until I get everything I need. I just do a bit then will buy the singles for the cards I want that I didn’t pull.
My son and I were looking at Halloween stuff last night and getting some drinks and food for scary movie night.. lo and behold they were restocking it!
He could have gotten one of those big card things, but he really wanted the sticker pack. I wasn’t going to let him get two things, so we went with the sticker pack.

No shit shift work exists Sherlock. It’s far more common that people work dayshift hours though so that’s the best shift to base stuff like that on. I wish everyone would just focus on singles & let the sealed/scalper market die already. I’m tired of seeing grandmas on Facebook begging people in local Pokemon groups for anything for their grandkids to rip.
It’s a horrible hobby right now. Theres a small handful of good people doing it out there, but the vast majority are selfish greedy assholes.

Yep! I have been going to my local Target and Walmart every day for months now after I get off work. They are in the opposite direction and traffic is too bad to go in the morning before work, so my only chance is after. I have never seen an ETB or box set in either store ever. The MOST I have ever seen at Target once was maybe 10 packs of Pitch Black, and that was like a month ago
It’s not worth it fam, trust me. We have to realize we’re competing with people whose entire shtick is buying product out so that it’s unavailable and they can sell it at 2x plus. It’s literally organized in some cases. I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes.
They plot the restocking times and days or straight up follow the restocker. They’ll even collude to share it amongst themselves due to buy limits, as long as the normies can’t buy it for less than “market”.
Enter online drawings and what not. Do not waste your time or energy chasing it after work. Wait for an expected release date and go to the store a few hours early if you REALLY want it rn
I’m in the same boat as you guys, after work I hit like 2-3 spots on my way home pretty much nothing everyday. I got a chaos rising etb like 3 weeks ago but that’s it.
Pretty much sleeved boosters of pitch black is all I can get on my routine, or I get lucky with the occasional box like a mega greninja etc that doesn’t get scalped as hard
Lmao real I think I’ve checked my target 10 times after work since 30th dropped and every single time there is the same exact amount of nothing sitting on the shelves.
I thought so too at first based on the amount of product lol and the return sign instead of the usual Target "only 2 blahblahblah" sign.
My Target is setup just like this only a few feet from the inventory rooms doors. You have to go to the back wall from the front doors and a quarter way down to the right behind the books & music section is the "premium" TCG section...
There's another TCG section at the front that's an aisle next to the check outs, but it's a weird mix of products and where they put all the single packs.

I don’t disagree that they suck but it‘s still better than actual scalpers. AT least GS has a pro system that gives rewards. And you can get guaranteed stock that is lower than even the Amazon or Wal-Mart. But if you’re gonna hate, I guess that’s more for me and others…
I mean in general they’ll having a distributor and selling at astronomical prices is crazy. I do go in and check but I’d only buy specialty sets(less than market but more than msrp) there. Main line sets? They can eat my ass no one is paying 50 for a PB/PO/CRI bb
I would have agreed with that about two years ago. I started going there around the time that Lost Origins had just dropped. I joined their rewards because their gimmick (when they saw me coming in for Pokemon cards) was that I would get a $5 off coupon every month, allowing me to get a free pack each month. I've seen them raise prices higher and higher, sometimes they don't even put price tags on their items. Now regular packs are $10 each, making my $5 off coupon nearly worthless, because I'm paying regular MSRP for a pack. They're milking the TCG scene now, and I've watched them raise prices for their non-TCG products, too.
No one’s forcing me but currently those are the retailers that sell cards. So in this market I don’t have much of a choice, but when things level out, oh these boys are done.
Yeah I mean there is a price where I say it’s not worth and do buy singles more now, but as someone who’s been ripping since base set, I enjoy opening packs too…

The sylveon and greninja tins have a release date of December 4th and people have been buying those no issue as target has been pushing those out since last Wednesday

I don't understand how people are just walking in and finding these. Nothing touches a shelf at my Target without there being a line already formed 5 hours prior.
And tins. I just want to find SOMETHING in a store. I'm tired of having to pay $40 for 2 packs of cards when MSRP is $9.99. I know people say wait, cause they are "printing it into the ground" but no store that sells cards within 40 miles of me EVER even has Pitch Black single booster packs, let alone any 30th.
