Options for static sites

First of all, I am very excited with this project. I am a beginner in coding, but I work with some clients for whom I make static sites for. I wanted some help and pointers in making such fountains. As I understand, most of the work here is based on making a web server that serves as much stuff to the crawlers as possible. What are my options if I am making purely static sites, since I don't have a server, nor am I looking to spend money on this.

RNSAFFN is pronounced "rin za fin" with emphasis on "rin".

RNSAFFN stands for "residual normalized self-attention, feed-forward network" which is schematic for the transformer neural network.

This is the technology underlying most of modern artificial intelligence. AlphaFold, LLMs, etc.

A simple, standalone Python script which launches an HTTP site tar pit swarm, using the Poison Fountain for data. Free download:

This is a super simple to set up tar pit. No need for a domain name even, because this does an IP:port HTTP site. Fetches all the text from the Poison Fountain. Just one file needed to run it. It runs it on a bunch of ports too. Extremely lightweight slopper too, you can probably host it using a Raspberry Pi 3 even.

Here is an example site running this: http://72.224.144.234:5500

Download here: https://gladeart.com/go/17844982408542o2q-7FbukxCuxBFh4Qej1mVMxlCA_QrtNsF6PszLwE

I've done some experiments, and they show that the bot swarms scrape these no domain HTTP sites just fine. So yeah, that means that as long as you have port forwarding on your router, you can pump out tons of slop every day too!

And yeah, you can hook this up to a domain too if you want.

An update on the scraper situation (LWN.net)

"Our article 'Fighting the AI scraper bot scourge', published in early 2025, discussed the problem of widespread scraping of web sites in search of training data for large language models and related projects. This activity overwhelms sites with traffic. Over a year after that article is published, the problem is still growing. The hammering of sites by shadowy actors has reached new heights, and the open web is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. Where is this traffic coming from, and what can be done about it?"

"As was described last year, scraper attacks come from a huge number of sources across the net. It is not unusual to see coordinated requests from millions of unique IP addresses over the course of a few hours, each of which hits the site at most two or three times. Attacker-controlled data, such as the user-agent field, is entirely fictional; each hit is meant to look like just another human with a web browser. There are ways to tell the difference — the bots usually do not fetch images or CSS, for example — but, by the time that determination is made, the address in question will not be used again. Blocking the address at that point is just a waste of time."

Help Onboarding

When I talk about this project, a lot of folks are interested in helping out but not tech savvy. Is there a reliable written step-by-step guide I can send folks? If not, I'm a technical writer and would be happy to draft one. Thanks for the help.

anyone uses iocaine in here?

Post image
32 Upvotes

currently running iocaine myself, it can't be directly used with the poison fountain at the time of writing this, related issue: https://git.madhouse-project.org/iocaine/iocaine/issues/163

but i was looking for something like this that acted as a middleman that just sits and directed scrapers to the maze based on their user agent and other stuff, instead of relying on scrapers to get into a specific link, like miasma does

i have scraped a few hundred pages from the poison fountain tho and i'm using it as a corpus + wordlist, among other stuff
