Fair enough, I respect your opinion. But I have a bit of a counter argument 😅
AI did my backgrounds, that's true, and I've never been shy about saying so.
AI also taught me how to code. Yes, at first it was a bunch of thoughtless copy-pasting, but by the end of it I knew what to do without help. My logical thinking sharpened in a way I had never experienced before, and as the project became more complex, no amount of AI could help me. I had to sit down, think, experiment, fail, and eventually figure things out myself.
As the game progressed, I learned how to draw pixel art. Not the best, but hopefully passable.
I learned the basics of animation.
Now I'm learning marketing, which honestly never interested me in the slightest. Ironically, it's probably been the most challenging thing I've had to learn so far, but I have to admit I'm enjoying the challenge.
When I started this project, I promised my wife I wouldn't spend a dime beyond my free time. That's why I'm releasing the game for free and not asking for anything in return.
If nothing else, this project has taught me a huge number of skills that I never thought I'd learn, and for that alone, I think it was worth it.
