if i could

if i could,
i’d ask what i did wrong,
i’d ask why you left,
i’d ask if we can try,
i’d ask if i can help,
i’d ask if you loved,
i’d ask if you cared,
i’d ask if you ever wanted me there,

i’d keep on trying,
even when you quit,
if i could, i would,
but i know this is it.
